If, like 1.3 million other players, you found certain difficulty levels were still locked inHelldivers 2after completing the previous level, Arrowhead says it has “ran through a bunch of manual progressions requests” to fix the issue. While the studio will be working on even more tomorrow, players around the world should now be able to progress through the game’s difficulty levels correctly.
While Helldivers 2’s popularity continues to skyrocket,it hasn’t been without its issues. But as the days of maxing out the game’s server capacity seem to be behind us, Arrowhead is now focused on bug fixes and new content. A major bug that was affecting over a million players was the inability to unlock new difficulty levels.

Helldivers 2 Players Urge Arrowhead To Work On Bug Fixes, Not New Content
Recent updates have focused on weapon balances and new features, but fans just want more bug fixes.
The annoying bug had been plaguing Helldivers worldwide since the game’s release earlier this year, with players evensharing their own workaroundsto the issue online, but there’s finally an official fix that should be live for most players.

Earlier today, an Arrowhead employee took to the Helldivers discord (viaReddit) to share the good news. “We [have] ran through a bunch of manual progression requests to fix locked difficulties for about 1,300,000 players who hadn’t been able to unlock them normally,” Arrowhead said.
But it’s not all good news, as Arrowhead’s efforts have meant there’s now a backup in the system. “Unfortunately, all of these manual requests caused a bit of a backup in the system that led to some hiccups in store purchases and other account features at the same time. Because of this, we’re looking to push through the rest of the difficulty unlock requests tomorrow over the course of the day in smaller batches.”

If you were previously affected by this dreaded difficulty bug, there’s a high chance the fix went live for you earlier today. However, if you were one of the few that is yet to see the next difficulty unlock after completing the previous one, hold tight!
