Having admitted that it’s who she believes she is, Shakira’s immediate choice was to share the set with a person who has lived a similar life, and she thought Nadal fit the role perfectly since he started off his career very young, traveling across the world to get to where he is now. In the making of the music video, she said,
When I thought of including someone in this video, I wanted this person to be someone I felt identified with… So I thought of Rafael Nadal because he is also a person who started his career very, very young and pursued his own goals. Also, he’s very good-looking.
Nadal obliged and collaborated with the star to produce a steamy video for a single that reached global success very quickly. But somehow, Nadal’s relationship was brought into the mix.
