Speaking of, a new trailer is also slated to drop on March 21, which you can find scheduled onArc System Works' official Youtube page. This month’s Brussels Challenge and Final Round were originally slated to premiere this trailer; sadly, both events are among the many canceled due to ongoing COVID-19 concerns.
ArcSys took to Twitter with aÂhandful of new posts, detailing the Closed Beta timeline and how to opt-in. They then closed their announcement with this tweet:
Further information on the official page reads as follows:
“Although the current beta test build is using a similar delay-based netcode from previous titles, a rollback-based netcode is currently in development for the final product of the game.”
Netcode has been heavily discussed in the fighting game community as of late. All current Arc System Works use a delay-based netcode, which has proven less effective at higher latency than more contemporary rollback systems like GGPO. With this statement, it suggests that ArcSys is attempting to develop their own brand of netcode forGuilty Gear Strive. Capcom has been in contention with fans recently for their handling of their proprietary rollback netcode; a recent fan patch saw dramatic improvements for many, but it is no longer functional since Capcom patched it out. Their own adjustments to the netcode have reportedly been less consistent, so this remains a sore spot for many. Here’s hoping Arc System Works fares better in their efforts.
