Gina Carano is perhaps one of the few successful transition stories from the ring to the silver screen. However, her future in the film/TV industry seems to be diminishing due to a controversy from the past. And the former MMA star isn’t backing down without a fight. With some help from X’s CEO, Elon Musk, Carano has taken the fight to Disney in an effort to win back her dignity and job. However, it seems like her former bosses at Disney are less than bothered.

Why is Gina Carano Under Fire for Suing Disney and Lucasfilm?
Gina Carano has come under fire after sharing a contentious Instagram post thatequated political division with the historical persecution of Jews. The aforementioned posts were posted on her Instagram account in February 2021, which reads: (viaVariety)
“Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors…even by children. Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views.”

Even though the post was quickly removed, it caused the actress a great deal of backlash, with the hashtag #FireGinaCarano becoming popular online. A statement from Lucasfilm was promptly made public that stated (viaThe Guardian):
“Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm, and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”
