10Ranger Pistol

Least Viable Close-Range Weapon

Base Magazine Size

Reload Time

Structure Damage

Critical Hit Damage

TheRanger Pistolis without a doubt theleast viable weaponto use in Fortnite Myths & Mortals. Though the damage-per-shot of this nifty Handgun is better than the likes of the Harbinger SMG, it doestrail behind slightly in overall DPS. This is largely due to its slower fire rate. The Ranger Pistol fails to do any meaningful damage on its own, and it is best paired with one of the two pump-action shotguns.

Though the Ranger Pistol does perform pretty poorly in comparison to other weapons, there are a few reasons why you should pick it up until you find a better alternative. The first redeeming quality this Pistol has is itshigh Critical Hit Damage, which doubles your damage per shot for headshots. The second is that it ispretty decent across range, more so than the Harbinger SMG. However, when it comes to gunfights in general, other weapons perform much better overall.

9Nemesis AR

Least Viable Ranged-Weapon

Last season, theNemesis ARdid prove to be a great middle-ground between both the Striker AR and the Enforcer AR. While the Nemesis AR still performs the same as it did with its first appearance, it has fallen off slightly in the overall meta. This is largely due to the introduction of new weapons, one of which renders theNemesis AR pretty much obsolete.

The main advantage of the Nemesis AR is itshigh damage-per-shot, which is comparably greater than the Warforged Assault Rifle. The Nemesis AR is alsopretty easy to control, making itgreat for mid-range engagements. However, in terms of overall DPS, the Nemesis AR is held back rather considerably because of its slow rate of fire.

8Harbinger SMG

Decent Fast-Firing Close-Range Support Weapon

TheHarbinger SMGseems to have replaced the Hyper SMG from last season, and for good reason. The Harbinger SMG is quite literally a buffed version of the latter, boasting agreater overall DPSat the expense of a slower rate of fire and reload speed. Where this Submachine Gun sits in the meta for this season is pretty interesting, as it is agood weapon to use up close- especially if you grab the Mythic version afterdefeating Hades in the Underworld.

However, theHarbinger SMG does rank fairly lowwhen compared to the infamous Warforged Assault Rifle - which can also perform pretty well in close-range gunfights. The difference in overall DPS between the two is not that much by any means, and the Harbinger SMG does perform pretty well compared to the Ranger Pistol. However, factor in the sheer versatility of some other weapons on this list, and the Harbinger SMG falls pretty short.

7Huntress DMR

Decent Mid-To-Long-Range Weapon

DMRs have never really found their place within the meta of Fortnite: Battle Royal. However, this season seems to be the exception. TheHuntress DMRis surprisinglygood in medium-to-long-range engagementsthanks to itshigh damage and excellent bullet velocity. It is also one of thefew weapons to have first-shot accuracyenabled this season, making it accurate and reliable.

All versions of this weapon deal immense damage, especially the Mythic variant - which is dropped byeliminating Zeus over at Mount Olympus. The low magazine size and slow fire rate do hold it back slightly, pushing players to be more accurate with their shots. Making use ofhigh Critical Hit Damagecan lead to some quick eliminations though, but this weapon is by no means a substitute for the Sniper Rifle.

6Hammer Pump Shotgun

Decent Damage Close Range Weapon

TheHammer Pump Shotgunwas once one of the best Shotguns to use in the game, but that title has since been claimed by another weapon on this list. With that being said, however, the Hammer Pump Shotgun does stilldeal high damagewith each shot, whilst also retainingremarkably high Critical Hit Damage.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2: Where To Find Olympus & Underworld Chests

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2: Myths & Mortals has introduced Olympus & Underworld chests, and they’re filled with powerful loot.

However, out of the three Shotguns in the game currently, the Hammer Pump Shotgun has thelowest overall DPS. It does have the edge over the Frenzy Auto Shotgun across range, however, but requires a keen accuracy to beat the latter option up close. The Hammer Pump can be a great weapon though, exceptionally useful when paired with another close-range support weapon.

5Thunder Burst SMG

Great Close-To-Mid-Range Weapon With High DPS

TheThunder Burst SMGwas one of the most underrated weapons for Chapter 5 Season 1. However, now that players have discovered thehigh damage potentialof this weapon, it has quickly moved up the ranks in Fortnite’s overall meta. The Thunder Burst SMG is agreat weapon to use at medium range, thanks to its keen accuracy.

The biggest benefit of the Thunder Burst SMG comes in its ability to dish out insane damage. Switch to this superb Submachine Gun after firing off a shot with the Gatekeeper Shotgun or the Hammer Pump, and you willtake out opponents insanely quickly. The only major downside of the Thunder Burst SMG is that it’s only effective for immensely accurate players, giving the weapon ahigh skill ceiling to master.

4Frenzy Auto Shotgun

High DPS Rapid Fire Close Range Weapon

TheFrenzy Auto Shotgunis by far themost beginner-friendlyout of the three Shotguns available in the game. When compared to the Hammer Pump before it, the Frenzy Auto Shotgun does fall behind in terms of damage per shot. However, in overall DPS, the Frenzy Auto Shotgun takes the cake.

The Frenzy Auto Shotgunshines in box fightsand other close-quarters combat scenarios thanks to its fast rate, allowing you torack up immense damagevery quickly. However, the main downside of the Frenzy Auto is itsrather slow reload speedin comparison to the Hammer Pump, along with its tendency to lose its ammunition fairly quickly.

3Reaper Sniper Rifle

Best High Damage Long Range Weapon

When it comes to long-distance combat, no weapon is greater than theReaper Sniper Rifle. This godly weapon is currently the only Sniper Rifle in the game, and has thebest bullet velocityout of all the weapons in the loot pool. Though the Huntress DMR can serve as a viable weapon in the long-range meta, the Reaper Sniper Rifle is better for one major reason.

The Reaper Sniper Rifle boasts thehighest damage-per-shotof any weapon in the game currently. This makes it immensely powerful for knocking down player health from afar, thus putting you in a great position to pressure them further. The Reaper Sniper Rifle is also the only weapon capable ofeliminating an opponent with a single headshotno matter how much health they have.

2Warforged Assault Rifle

Most-Versatile Full-Auto Weapon

TheWarforged Assault Rifleis by far themost versatile weaponin the game. Serving as the replacement for the Striker AR, this fast-firing weapon is rather useful for a variety of different scenarios. This weapon hashigh damage, ahigh fire rate, and even comes in Mythic rarity - which can be obtained bybattling Ares at Brawler’s Battleground.

When compared to the Nemesis AR, the Warforged Assault Rifle does fall slightly behind in terms of damage-per-shot along whileboasting more recoil. However, the Warforged Assault Rifle has a higher overall DPS thanks to its faster fire rate andlarger magazine size. This weapon also works pretty well as areliable weapon across range, whilst also performing great up close.

1Gatekeeper Shotgun

Best Close-Range Weapon

Serving as both the best close-range weapon in the game and the best Shotgun in the game, theGatekeeper Shotgunis truly a weapon worthy of the Gods of Fortnite. This weapon does fall slightly behind the Hammer Pump when it comes to damage per shot. However, the difference between the two is not huge, and the Gatekeeper doesboast a faster fire rate to boot- granting agreater TTK on average.

The Gatekeeper Shotgun also hasbetter damage range than both other Shotgunoptions, making it slightly more versatile in the close-range meta. The only real downside this weapon has is itslow base magazine size of 3 rounds, and the fact that you cannot reload individual shells. However, this can be mitigated by equipping a larger magazine on the Weapon Mod Bench. For players looking for the Mythic variant, you’re able to grab it afterdefeating Cerberus at Grim Gate.
