Fortnite’s latest 24.40 Update added an all-new weapon to the game — theThunder Spear,and fans are quite curious to learn more about it, especially the anime fans who have a soft spot forAttack on Titan.

Fortnite isknown for its crossovers, and we have seen Epic collaborating with a number of leading IPs, including the likes of Marvel, Dragon Ball,Star Wars, and many more. Now, Epic has released another update, which is adding the highly anticipated Attack of Titan crossover to the game. Apart from some flashy cosmetics, there are a few interesting weapons that are being added as well.
How To Use ODM Gear
Firstly, the update is adding theomnidirectional mobility gear, aka the ODM, which gives players the"ability to grapple in the air and strike opponents below.“For players who are not privy to the anime, this gear basically functions somewhat similarly to Spider-Man’s Web Shooters mechanic we saw in Fortnite previously. The versatility of the gear makes it suitable for both attacking and defensive scenarios. Players can use it tocatch enemies off-guard by attacking from above or quickly escape combat encounters.
While the ODM gear allows you to grapple multiple times,there is a cooldown attached, so you need to ensure that you don’t land at a risky spot during a cooldown. Additionally, the gear will also let you hover in the air, so you can use that to travel farther or change directions as well.

How To Use The Thunder Spear
The Thunder Spearworks quite similarly to a rocket launcher, although there are a few key differences. These “arm-launched rockets” can penetrate armored structures and can inflict damage upon enemies on both sides.The area of effect of this weapon isn’t that large, but it deals significant damage to the enemies hit with its AOE.
When activated, you’ll leap higher in the air, which can throw off your aim. Account for this!
It is not possible to one-shot enemies with the Thunder Spear, so you need to be careful while using it, as you might get outnumbered if you don’t have enough cover to hide behind.The best use of this weapon is to blow the cover of hiding enemies and snipers and then use other weapons to take them down. Additionally, given the scarcity of rockets in the game, you should try to save the Thunder Spear for critical situations. They drop fresh with 8 pieces of ammo, two in a clip before needing to reload. Use them wisely!

Where To Find The Thunder Spear & ODM Gear?
To no surprise, there are a number of quests tied to the Attack on Titan’s crossover as well, involving the Thunder Spear and ODM Gear. According to the officialFortnite blog, both theODM gear and Thunder Spear can be looted from the ground, regular Chests, and Scout Regiment Footlockers. However, your odds of getting the items from the first two are significantly less.
Ideally,you should be looking for Scout Regiment Footlockers to get the Thunder Spear & ODM Gear. While you should be able to find them at the hot drop locations, theJaeger’s Family Basement in Anvil Squareis by far the best spot for finding this chest. However, it is very likely that a lot of players will be heading toward the location to complete the quests or even try out the new gear, so you should be careful before dropping at the location.
