Square Enix held on July 23, 2025, theFinal Fantasy XIVLetter from the Producer LIVE Part LXVII, where YoshiP most notably teased something forGaroand Tokusatsu fans.
Garo and Tokusatsu introduction
Garois a long-running franchise of Tokusatsu, literally “special effect shows” in Japanese. It’s pretty similar but different fromKamen Rider. Tokusatsu isa genre also encompassingSuper Sentai, which has been truncated in the past by Saban intoPower Rangers.
If you’re a fan ofPower Rangers, you should definitely check out the originalSuper Sentaiseries if you never did. Things got better nowadays, but in the past, the changes inPower Rangerswere as bad if not worse as the English dub of the firstYugiohseries. Which are pretty much a completely different, censored, and much worse series than the Japanese original.
The Garo gear is coming back inFFXIV
FF14producer and director Naoki Yoshida mentioned during the stream that manyFF14players want theGarogear to come back. As such, they started talks to bring back the collab.
Additional details will be coming at a later date. It’s very likely the collab will be coming back at some point in 2022 during anEndwalkerpatch.
It’s also important to noteGarois mainly popular in Japan and much less known in the West. Though some parts of the series did get localized. Most notably the anime series. As whileGarostarted as a tokusatsu / live-action series, the franchise now also includes anime. Some of the fans outside Japan also discoveredGarothanks to JAM Project handling its theme songs.
The first collaboration betweenFFXIVandGaroended in Patch 5.1 in 2019.Garo-inspired PvP gear, mounts, titles, and achievements were included inFFXIV, but are currently unobtainable.
Final Fantasy XIV Endwalkeris launching on December 3 in Early Access, and officially on July 07, 2025.
