Square Enix published some new screenshots forFinal Fantasy 7 Remake, showing Sephiroth and most notably reenactingiconic scenesfrom the original game. We’ve seen Tifa on the… water cistern? I’ve forgotten what that thing was supposed to be in the original game. And now we have Sephiroth in the Nibelheim fire. That cutscene in the original game is the most iconic shot ofFinal Fantasy 7,engraved into the mind of all its players.  We also got a proper introduction to Roche, one of the new characters in this remake.

First are screenshots and 3D models for Sephiroth. He’s as always voiced by Toshiyuki Morikawa.

Next, we have screenshots and character models for President Shinra, and Shinra’s director of Public Security Heidegger. We also got a proper introduction to that new Soldier character. He’s named Roche (“Rock” in French.) and is a Soldier Third Class. Roches loves bikes, races, and is disliked by his comrades because of his very aggressive way of driving which always puts them into danger. Roche is described as a “Speed Junkie”.

President Shinra is voiced by Genzō Wakayama. Heidegger is voiced by Katsumi Chō. Roche is voiced by Kenta Miyake.

Following up next are screenshots showing the summon Shiva in action using her skill Diamond Dust, and her 3D model. As you know, in the original game, players didn’t have access to summons until leaving Midgar. While the Midgar part didn’t last more than five hours or so in the original,Final Fantasy 7 Remakeis a full-length game by itself (though we don’t know how many hours it takes to beat yet), with many new story elements, characters, and gameplay systems. Some of these things will be there sooner in this remake. I’m personally hoping for Yuffie to be in, at least as a cameo, else we’ll have to wait until the next game.

Next are new screenshots showing Aerith in battle and using her Tempest unique ability. This works like a magical mine of sorts, as it sends a crystal which attaches itself to enemies and explodes a few seconds later for AOE damage. The two last screenshots show Aerith using her MP Drain ability and her Shield ability.

Up next are screenshots of the Train Graveyard, another iconic location of the original game. The last two screenshots show event scenes with Cloud, Tifa, and Aerith.

Last but not least, we have new screenshots of the Shinra headquarters building.

Alternate resolutions of theFinal Fantasy 7 Remakeartworks with Tifa and Sephiroth were shared as well.
