Although it isn’t the most flashy system in the game, knowing how to earn Renown and benefit from it is something you should prioritize. In this guide, we’ll walk you through everything you need to know about Renown.

What Is Renown

As you complete various activities in the game, you will slowly accrue Renown. For the first 10 to 15 hours of the game, this fact is likely to go entirely unnoticed since you won’t be introduced to the Renown system or its rewards until you complete a major chapter where you encounter your first Mother Crystal. After doing so, the Renown system will be introduced, along with a couple of others.

In a nutshell, you can earn Renown by helping people throughout the world. This will primarily be done through side quests, but you can also earn Renown by defeating notorious marks on the Hunt board. Upon completing these activities, you’ll be rewarded a range of Renown points, typically varying based on the difficulty of the task.

Renown Rewards

After you have been introduced to the Renown system, you’ll want to make an immediate pit stop at the Patron’s Whisper, located to the left of the Hunt board. Here, you can see how much Renown you have accrued and accept donations from the grateful patrons you have helped through your actions. And since you have already done a number of quests by this point in the game, you’ll likely be able to claim a couple of rewards right away.

The more Renown you earn, the more rewards you’ll have access to. These rewards can include equippable accessories, songs for the Orchestrion, and rare materials used in crafting. As you continue to progress through the game, more significant rewards will unlock as you go, so be sure to check back often. For convenience, we also have a list of Renown Rewards for you below.
