2020 has been a very strange year for all the publishers and retailers that deal with physical versions of the game, but it’s going to end very soon, withFIFA 21leading theUK’s boxed sales chartin the very last week of this year.

Once again, anotherset of discountsforFIFA 21worked out for Electronic Arts and the game managed to step up to the top spot of the UK’s physical game market and reign the chart in the final week of 2020. Thanks toFIFA 21’s 8% increase in week-to-week sale andAssassin’s Creed Valhalla’s 21% drop in sales compared to the week before the last, EA’s sports hit beatValhallato the first place and hiked four steps to stand at the top spot. On the other hand,Valhalladropped to the second place and ended this year as runner-up, but with a great performance in sales in overall.

The third place was handed over toAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsafter Activision’sCall of Duty Black Ops Cold Warsold 42% less than the previous week, during the final days of 2020. This gets more interesting when you know that all versions ofBlack Ops Cold Warwere hit by multiple discounts during the last week. The game now holds the fifth place of the table.

Another Nintendo Switch hit,Mario Kart 8: Deluxe, reached the fourth place despite having 8% loss in week-to-week sales. But the interesting story of the new table is probablyCyberpunk 2077that stood at the eight place, belowSpider-Man Miles MoralesandJust Dance 2021. CD Projekt RED’s latest RPG experienced 57% drop in sales compared to the previous week. The game was never hit by any discounts during this year, but it would probably experience better sales again when the developers launch the big enhancement patches for the last-gen versions of the game.
