After leading the cast for the sequel trilogy, Ridley is expected to reprise her role as Rey Skywalker in a new film that will follow her attempts to rebuild the Jedi order. The yet-untitled film was expected to start filming later this year.

A new report indicates that the film is in massive jeopardy and its road to production might not be as clear.Peaky Blinderscreator Steven Knight is currently attached as a writer to the project. Daisy Ridley’s NewStar WarsMovie Reportedly Not Starting Production Anytime Soon

ActressDaisy Ridleyis known for playing the role of Rey in the sequel trilogy ofStar Warsmovies produced under Kathleen Kennedy’s leadership. In April 2023, Ridley was officiallyannounced to be reprising her rolein a newStar Warsfilm, withSharmeen Obaid-Chinoyserving as the director.

It was expected to start filming in September 2024. However, according to a newreport, the film is reportedly in jeopardy and it is unlikely that production will start this year. The report also indicated that there is behind-the-scenes drama at Lucasfilm that has currently halted the development of the project.

Therefore, a final draft of the script had not been locked just yet. As a result, it is easy to understand why the report claims that the Ridley-led film is being delayed.

Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson were earlier working on the screenplay for the yet-untitled movie. However, after the duo’s exit,Peaky BlinderscreatorSteven Knightwas announced as screenwriter in March 2023. In April 2024, Knight provided an update on his screenplay for the movie.

Knight made the above statement during an interview withNME. Hence, it is safe to say that Knight did not complete a final draft for the movie at least by April 2024. As a result, the aforementioned report suggesting that Knight was still working on the screenplay sounds credible.

The untitled Rey Skywalker movie currently does not have a release date.
