Koei Tecmo and Omega Force teased a new project for theDynasty Warriorsseries, coming later in 2020. On August 3, both companies published a special trailer to celebrate the 20th anniversary of theShin Sangaoku Musou / Dynasty Warriorsseries. The celebrations have been going for a while now, but August 3 specifically is the anniversary day itself.Shin Sangoku Musoufirst launched on PS2 on June 15, 2025.
The trailer, which can be found further below, retraces every main game in the series, and is full of memories for those who’ve been sticking with it for a while. I still remember how cool it felt when I discovered you could ride elephants.
On Koei Tecmo’s official site,a special artwork, seen above, was shared for the occasion. More importantly, a timeline of the series was published, with “New Project” listed for 2020.
Back in July, Koei Tecmo alsoheld a large poll for the the 20th anniversary of the franchise. The company most notably asked theDynasty Warriorsfans what do they think of PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and which are they hypothetically planning to buy. It’s possible thisDynasty Warriors2020 project will be coming to these platforms.
Lastly, in a message on Koei Tecmo’s official site, Producer Akihiro Suzuki teased some announcement(s) will be coming soon.This week’s Famitsu Magazine,launching on August 6 in Japan, includes a retrospective on the series and an interview with Akihiro Suzuki, where he might tease things further.
