Dragon’s Dogma 2 Pawns Aren’t Afraid To Spill The Tea On Your Dirty Deeds
Don’t expect Pawns in Dragon’s Dogma 2 to keep your secrets.
Pawn quests are a central, albeit poorly explained feature of the Pawn system and something many players may find themselves confused about. Here we’ll clarify how this mechanic works and how you can take advantage of it.

Dragon’s Dogma 2
How To Set A Pawn Quest
Pawn quests can only be set using certain Riftstones.Forgotten Riftstonesand some of the Riftstones in smaller settlements don’t allow you to access the Pawn quest system. The first Riftstone that lets you set a Pawn quest is in theBorderwatch Outpost. The second major one is inVernworth, the capital, which is up the stairs behind the water fountain in the main square.
Once you’ve found a large Riftstone, interact with it to enter the Rift and interact with it again to bring up the Riftstone menu. Select the option ‘Set a Pawn Quest’, and you’ll find two fields here.

Resting at an inn(or a house) will trigger your Pawn to tell you about other Arisen they’ve been hired by - if any - and how that adventure went. This is also when you’ll be updated on if the Pawn quest you set has been completed or not, if someone sent you a gift through your Pawn, and if they received any likes or hearts.
For some people, the Pawn quest menu doesn’t show up until their Pawns die once in the game. If you’re not able to trigger the Pawn quest menu, try throwing your Pawn in the Brine and trying again.

If you change a quest reward from the Riftstone, you won’t be able to gain any rewards even if the quest was completed by someone. Remember to rest at an inn before changing the quest to something else if you don’t want to miss out on a reward.
Are Pawn Quests Mandatory?
No, Pawn quests are completely optional. Neither you nor the player hiring your Pawn has to complete a Pawn quest. So if you find an incredible Pawn in the Rift who’s perfect for yourparty compositionbut you don’t want to give them a ‘Ferrystone’ because that’s the Pawn quest requirement, you can choose to ignore that completely and just hire the Pawn. The only cost to you will be theRCyou spend.
It’s generally better to hire a Pawn with a Pawn quest than one without. You always want to have the option to complete a Pawn quest for a reward than not have one at all.
