There’s no doubt thatDragon Ball: Sparking Zerois one of this year’s most hyped game releases, as it marks the return of the beloved Budokai Tenkaichi series. After all, with Bandai Namco’s new title, players have plenty of nostalgia to experience and new memories to create.

Sparking Zerofeatures over 180 fighters and brings back some of the most iconic characters in theDragon Ballfranchise. One such character is Future Trunks, who quickly rose to the ranks of fan favorite due to his incredible design and backstory. WhileSparking Zerohas done a fantastic job recreating the character, the game does him quite dirty by reviving one of his worst nightmares that ended up defining his life.
Sparking Zero Brings the Worst For Future Trunks
Well, what makes a character so beloved is the relatability factor with their audience. Although it’s quite a tragic connection to make,Future Trunks sits right there within the hearts of fansdue to how they were able to connect with the character and relate to his loss.
In the future, when Goku doesn’t manage to survive due to a heart virus after coming back to Earth, the Androids emerge and destroy the entire world. At some point, Gohan tries to face the Androids alone so Trunks won’t end up dying, which leads to his demise. Seeing the lifeless body of his best friend and teacher awakens the rage within Trunks and allows him to achieve his own Super Saiyan form.

Ultimately, he ends up going back in time to permanently get rid of the threat of Androids by either finding their weakness or getting Goku to go to his timeline and take them. While his plans do work out in the end, the brutality of the Androids scarred him for life, as we can see in thisDragon Ball: Sparking Zeroclip.
Trunks is so traumatized by the Androids that he thinks even he’s one himself 😭💀pic.twitter.com/jU7PRS5EiV

The sheer trauma given by the Androids to Future Trunks is so deep that when two versions of the character face off against each other, they believe that they’re going against an Android! It’s just mind-boggling how Future Trunks does know about the existence of alternative versions of Z Fighters but still fails to recognize himself.
If Vegeta got to look at this, he would scowl at his son and would probably motivate him by saying a true Saiyan never shows his fear, no matter the enemy! Future Trunks has already been through hell and experienced the worst of the worst. It’s time for him to act like Saiyan, get past the features of those pathetic machines, and embrace his father’s motto.
