What Is Crossplay and Cross-Progression?

Crossplay is a popular gaming function that allows users on separate platforms to play the same game together. For example, one friend may own a copy ofCall of Dutyon PC, whilst their friend owns a copy on PlayStation 5. If crossplay is enabled, the two will be able to play in the same multiplayer games together.

Certain games permanently enable crossplay, while others give the user the ability to toggle the feature on and off. So if you only want to matched with other players on the same console, you can keep this feature off.

Cross-progression is a differnet feature, which is not to be confused with crossplay. If a game supports cross-progression, this means that users can take their progress to a different platform. For example, if you rank up to level 55 inCall of Dutyon PlayStation, then move over to PC, this progress will be carried over.
