Opening Encounter, Destiny 2, Crota’s End

Crota’s End comprises four encounters, out of which two require you to fight bosses. There is also an opening encounter as well as a short mini-encounter between the main second and third encounters.

The Chalice Of Light Mechanic

When you launch the raid, you start at the entrance of Hellmouth. In front of you, you will see an object called theChalice of Light. Chalice of Light is the main mechanic of the raid and will be used again and again. At a time, only a single person can acquire the Chalice of Light, and other teammates can acquire it by interacting with the person who has the Chalice of Light.

Main Mechanic of Raid

For the Opening Encounter, you must form a bridge. To do this, you must get the Enlightened buff and use it to Enlighten the plate that is near the bridge. When you Enlighten it, however, your Enlightened buff will run out, so it is important to shuffle the Chalice of Light buff to keep getting the Enlightened buff. Once the plate has been Enlightened a few times, the bridge will fully develop, and you will drop into the Hellmouth where the first encounter will take place.

First Encounter: Abyss

When you drop down, you will see a new Chalice of Light. When someone picks it up, it will start the encounter, and the entire team will get two brand-new debuffs calledWeight of Darkness, which will slow down the movement of players, andEngulfed in Darkness, which is a timed debuff that will wipe the entire team if it runs out. The first encounter comprises a maze, which you have to traverse. You can easily traverse it by following theHive Lanterns.

TheHive Lanternsplay an important role in this encounter, as they will be used to refresh the two debuffs. To make use of them, one person with the Enlightened buff must interact with the Hive Lantern. This will make the Lantern light up, and when you stand near it, your debuffs will be refreshed. However, you cannot stay at a Lantern for too long, as it will eventuallyglow red and kill you.

So, you will have to continuously move from a Lantern to a Lantern, all the while you keep track of the Chalice of Light and Enlightened buff. With each Lantern, the person with the Chalice of Light will have the option to preserve the Chalice of Light by depositing it near the Lantern. This will allow someone else to pick it up and also light other Lanterns, allowing you to move forward. There is also another debuff calledDrained of Light, which will appear if you get the Enlightened buff. Drained of Light will not allow you to pick up the Chalice of Light buff again for a short time.

First Encounter, Preserving Chalice, Crota’s End, Destiny 2

Encounter’s Mechanic

The loop for this encounter is as follows:

When you reach the final Lantern, you will see a plate that you will have to Enlighten, just as you did in the Opening Encounter. This will form a bridge, and you will be able to progress to the next encounter.

Second Encounter: Oversoul Throne Bridge

You will enter a brand-new arena, which will comprise two areas with a chasm in between. Both of these areas will havethree plates.Themiddle platewill be normal while the Left and Right plates will beAnnihilator Totem plates.

Grab the Chalice of Light and repeat the mechanic of getting Enlightened and shuffling the Chalice. Once you have Enlightened the plate, one person must stand on the plate to keep the bridge forming — otherwise, the progress would be lost.

Mini Encounter, Destiny 2, Crota’s End Raid

However, once you stand on the middle plate, the Annihilator Totems will start to glow red and will wipe the team if someone does not stand near them. So, one person must be dedicated to the left and right plates each, and the rest are responsible for shuffling the Chalice and Enlighten the middle plate. Once you Enlighten the middle plate enough,Swordbearerswill spawn. Swordbearers will drop a sword once they are killed, but these swords can only be picked up by those who have the Enlightened buff.

Sword Mechanic

Here’s everything you need to know about the sword mechanic in this raid:

Boss Battle

After five Gatekeepers are killed and five swords have been preserved, a ton of Gatekeepers will appear, and since at least five people will be on the far side, they mustshuffle the Chalicebetween them to get Enlightened and then use the swords they preserved tokill the Gatekeepersthat have appeared.

Once all the Gatekeepers have been killed, the encounter will be completed, and you will get a loot chest.

Traverse The Green Walls

After beating the second encounter you will reach a corridor that will have two transparentgreen wallsin between. To go through the wall, a player must be Enlightened, therefore you must once again shuffle the Chalice of Light. When you go through the wall, you must immediatelykill the Shrieker; this will allow the wall to disappear, and then other players can go through the wall.

There will be another wall; repeat the same procedure, and then after some time, you will reach the arena where the third and final encounter will take place.

Third Encounter, Destiny 2, Crota’s End Raid 2

Third Encounter: How To Defeat Ir Yut

When you enter the arena, the encounter will start, and for this encounter, you will need to split your team intotwo groups of three. One team will go to theright sideand one to theleft side. You have to kill all the enemies for the encounter to progress, and when you kill enough of the enemies, the wall in the room that is present on the backside of the arena will fall. The Shriekers will open up, and after killing the Shriekers, the final wall will drop, and then both of the groups will meet in a room that will have the Chalice of Light.

There are7 other roomsin the arena, all covered by a wall. Two rooms will be on thefront leftside, while two rooms will be on thefront rightside. There will also bethree rooms in the backtop, one on the left, one in the middle, and one on the right. Now, at the place where the two groups met up, you will see that besides the Chalice of Light, there will also be a shielded Wizard; this is the main boss that you have to kill in this encounter.

Final Encounter: Crota, Son of Oryx

The final encounter will take place in the same arena, and you have to killCrota, Son of Oryx. The encounter will start if every member of the fireteam is close to each other near the pillar where you kill Ir Yut. Then, the room will be covered by transparent walls, and Crota will spawn in front of you. Once the walls go down, you will be free to move, and enemies will start to spawn. Killing the enemies is not necessary to progress the encounter, but it is the safer option.

In the middle of the arena, there will be aChalice of Light, which you will need to get the Enlightened buff so that you pick upswords that you can use to damage Crota. To spawn in the Swordbearers, you will need to kill theKnights in the top left and right rooms.Killing the Knights will spawnSwordbearers, which you can kill to use their swords.

However, in this encounter, you cannot simply shuffle the Chalice buff by interacting with the player having it. You must have the player with the Chalice of Light buff stand in aPool of Light, which are scattered throughout the arena. The person will stand in the Pool and then exchange the Chalice with someone else to get theEnlightened buff. After getting the Enlightened buff, you’re able to pick up the sword.

How To Defeat Crota

If the Oversoul timer goes down, the team will definitely get wiped, so be careful.

You will get onlythree damage phasechances to make Crota enter the final stand, so verify that you do enough damage.
