After you’vecompleted Kell’s Fall for the first time, you’ll be rewarded the Slayer’s Fang exotic shotgun.

Perk Pool And God Rolls

To start, the Slayer’s Fang is aVoid slug shotgunthat fires a round that breaks into smaller fragments on impact. These submunitions scatter regardless of what they hit, be they enemies or surfaces.

Slayer’s Fang has a pretty amazing exotic perk:Nightsworn Sight.“Dealing final blows to targets grants Nightsworn Sight. During that time, final blows grantTruesight, reload speed and precision damage is increased, and submunitionsweakentargets.”

destiny2revenant-001

By scoring a kill, you essentially gainseven seconds of wall hacks, and you’re able to refresh that timer as long as you can continue that killing spree. The Weaken effect and the increased damage can total up to a32% increase in damagedealt.

Like most other recent exotic weapons, you can craft the Slayer’s Fangand configure it however you like, as long as you’ve found all the catalysts and intrinsic upgrades from Kell’s Fall.

destiny2revenant-004

The Slayer’s Fang can be crafted with the following traits:

Heart Piercer

PvE God Roll

Arrowhead Brake

Assault Mag

Repulsor Brace or Cascade Point

Short-Action Stock

Arrowhead Brake changes therecoil direction to a more predictable pattern, and Assault Mag slightly increases the rate of fire and stability. Unlike PvP, you don’t have to worry too much about reload speed in PvE.

Among the four Catalysts,Repulsor BraceandCascade Pointare the better ones, and each excels depending on what you want to use Slayer’s Fang for.

Repulsor Brace is generally good forany kind of activity, as killing any void-debuffed enemy will give you an overshield that could give you a slightly better chance of survival.

These perks are only available in Episode 2: Revenant. If you’re reading this from Episode 3: Heretic or beyond, disregard these perks, or use any available void-centric perks.

Since the void debuffs are already built into the gun’s weakening rounds, this synergizes amazingly well with the current seasonal artifact. These perks are a must-have, especially when you’re running a void build:

Bysynergizing Repulsor Bracewith these seasonal artifact perks, Slayer’s Fang is incredibly fun to use in low to mid-tier activities.

As for Cascade Point, it’s only good if you’re running a non-void build and want to use the Slayer’s Fang like any other slug shotgun -close-up DPS and burst damage.

PvP God Roll

Accurized Rounds

Repulsor Brace

Fitted Stock

It’s important to mention that because of its Catalysts, Slayer’s Fang is almostexclusively a PvE weapon, but it’sstill viablefor PvP if you really want to use it.

Slayer’s Fang is only as good in PvP as any other slug shotgun. If you like slugs, then Slayer’s Fang isn’t a bad choice, as it has abase range of 75.

But slug shotguns are often a niche choice, so why bother using Slayer’s Fang or any other slug, whenThe Chaperone outperforms everything else?

Proccing Truesight with a kill contributes to the appeal of this gun, which is a buff mostly associated withvoid Hunters. WithTruesight, you’d be able to much better line up your shots or predict where your opponents are headed.

Since youspawn in PvP with only one round, Repulsor Brace is the only consistent Catalyst to choose, as there are other avenues of dealing void debuffs to your opponents in PvP. Fitted Stock also makes the recoil much more tolerable at the cost of handling, which can be mitigated with Dexterity mods on your gauntlets.

Is Slayer’s Fang Good?

TL;DR? It’s okay.

The community consensus around Slayer’s Fang seems to mostly be “it’s alright,” which is understandable considering it’s being compared toa much superior Void weapon: Choir of One.

It’s not meta-breaking or the best thing ever, per se, but it’s not awful and unusable, either. Slug shotguns have a weird place in thecurrent meta, and Slayer’s Fang is performing well mostly because of the artifact perks. Once this Episode finishes and those perks are gone, there’s a chance thatthis gun might fade into obscurity.

While Choir of One massively outperforms Slayer’s Fang in every aspect, one thing that’s going to keep Slayer’s Fang even remotely relevant isits innate ability to stun Overload Champions.

As for its perks, Slayer’s Fang can deal some respectable damage and has better ways of eliminating multiple squishy targets at once than the other slug shotguns.

Slayer’s Fangperforms quite well in a vacuumbut quickly becomes irrelevant when compared with stronger contenders like Choir of One.

While it might also struggle in GMs and Master raids anddungeons,it’s a fun gun to use in easier activities likeOnslaughtor Strikes, especially when synergized with a Void build and Episode Revenant’s seasonal perks.
