New Lights to Destiny 2may have a hard time with Crucible, as veteran players have some incredible skill and gear to get them far in Crucible rankings, but that isn’t everything in the PVP mode. Players using common weapons can do great in Crucible, though players would definitely benefit from these following tips and tricks to start earning some victories and impressing Lord Shaxx.
10Finding The Right Equipment
As stated before, equipment isn’t the end-all-be-all for players to storm the ranks in Crucible, but it can certainly help. Foremost, armor is the most important aspectof equipment for players to pay attention to. Whether you’re playingTitan,Warlock, orHunter, it’s important to find a great exotic armor piece that can help you in PVP. Same goes for agreat exotic weapon.
Guardians should prioritize Resilience and Recovery in their armor stats for Crucible, since they determine how much damage the player can take and how fast their health recovers between bouts. Players can also stick to themeta by using weaponrythat can, almost unfairly, quickly take out opponents.

9Optimizing Your Character
Guardians should first capitalize on the PVE aspect of the game before diving into Crucible. This way, players are able to obtain great weapons, armor, and start to understand how they want to build their character a little better.

Building a character in Destiny 2 files down to the subclass the player wishes to use. Whether it’s aHunter Gunslingeror Warlock Dawnblade, every subclass can hold their own in Crucible.
8Playing The Objective
There are different game modes available at different times in Crucible, from a simple team deathmatch to objective-based modes like Control. Control requires teams to fight against each other to gain control over three different objectives on the map.
It’s easy to get too focused on seeking out eliminations, but prioritizing the current game’s objective will always lead toward combat opportunities while also contributing toward the game’s goal.

7Utilize Cover
New Lights are notorious for running directly into the line of fire — or at least into enemies' line of sight. Even when fighting with NPC opponents, Destiny 2 players can fall into the trap of never actually using cover, because they assume that they are bullet-sponges. In easier PVE content, that can mostly be true, but in PVP, a sharpshooter can take out a Guardian in mere moments.
It is crucial for players to actually utilize cover in the game. There’s no cover-based system, but being able to break line of sight on your enemies at a moment’s notice is crucial to survive many encounters. In Crucible, the maps offer many different points of cover for players to make use of when in a match. These can determine who lives and who dies in any given exchange.

6Keep Moving
Destiny 2 is a pretty fast-paced game, especially when it comes to the gameplay of PVP. Guardians will need to consistently move around the map in order to stay alive, get eliminations, and obtain different ammo.

Unless they are sticking to an objective, players need to constantly run around while maintain cover in order to get the jump on the enemy team — and stay away from enemies who are packed together. This is also true while in the middle of a fight, as players need to move so that opponents have a harder time hitting them.
5Learn The Maps
There are many maps in Crucible, and all of them have different cover spots, spawn locations, and objective locations for Guardians to understand. In order for the player to become a master in the Crucible, they will need to study the various maps and utilize the best spots on those maps.
It is extremely useful to understand where the objectives are on the maps, where the vantage points are for firing at enemies, and where the enemy spawn locations are, so that players can avoid or intervene with opponents.

4Figure Out Enemy Team Composition
It’s pretety easy to play through a Crucible match without knowing this one fact; players can see other players' subclasses at the top-center of the screen. There is a bar showing each player’s class and subclass, as each one has a different icon and color.
With this knowledge of the enemy team’s subclasses, players can more efficiently strategize on how to approach objectives and opponents. For example, knowing an enemy has a roaming super can inform players to keep away when they activate it.
3Take The High Ground
The high ground is one of the most important aspects in a PVP fight. Elevation offers a bird’s-eye view of the battlefield, and players will often get the drop on their opponent when firing down from above. A high point of cover can be great, but Guardians can also leap high into the air to surprise unsuspecting enemies.
This is where movement abilities can come in handy in Crucible, as each class has different movement abilities at their disposal. Using these abilities to gain advantage in the air can be crucial against the enemy team.
Beware of sight lines when high in the air. This position can give you the drop on a nearby enemy, but a long-range sniper can pick you out from the sky with ease.
2Know When To Retreat
Many players play Crucible one of two different ways: Running and gunning until they are (quickly) eliminated, or strategizing and using cover to fight against opponents. Strategizing is very important in these PVP matches, because it can help keep your team’s head above the water.
A player who understands that they are out of their league in a fight can run away from the situation, regrouping with reinforcing allies or even just repositioning to a more advantageous position. Especially when a player finds themselves outnumbered, it’s often better to retreat and regroup before pressing the attack once again.
1Using Different Loadouts
The Lightfall expansion finally introduced aloadout preset systeminto the game, allowing Guardians to save multiple loadouts to swap on the fly. Players can now create different loadouts in their Character screen, beginning with only six, though another four can be unlocked later on.
This allows them to save their character build as it is for later use. With this new addition, players should create different loadouts that might fare better in different Crucible game modes. For example, using a tankier character build in an objective-based match would be better than a Movement build.
