Destiny 2has been around for quite a while, but it’s still annoying that the game is missing some basic features that could make the gameplay loop much smoother. Such features could help the community stick around for a longer period as the story goes on every year with a new expansion.

At this moment,Bungieneeds to think of more gameplay features than new weapons, subclasses, or planets. What the Destiny 2 community needs a lot at the moment is a number of quality-of-life improvements next to the yearly content drop, and we will go over the most important enhancements the game needs here.

10Photo Mode

It’s unbelievable how Bungie prevents us from taking memorable screenshots of our adventures, especially when taking in some of those breathtaking views. Just imagine how many incredible shots you may take from the Garden of Salvation with all those impressive views of the garden. Or even the recentRoot of Nightmaresraid where you are closest to the Traveler and that Veil entrance.

Some creative Destiny 2 players have managed to find workarounds by disabling the HUD and using certain emotes to take screenshots with the least amount of UI elements, but honestly, why should we torture ourselves that much when we could have a great Photo Mode in the game?

9Proximity Chat

Proximity chat usually gets out of hand in games and becomes an abusive tool for toxic players. However, at the end of the day, you should always keep in mind that this is an optional feature, and it is always better to have it in-game.

In a game like Destiny 2 where communication is crucial, it is quite important to have a proximity chat. The most recent example where we really felt the absence of this feature was during thehidden Exotic missionofSeason of the Deepin the Deep Dive activity. If we could only ask our teammates whether they would like to do a normal Deep Dive run or go for the Exotic mission instead, many more players could’ve earnedWicked Implementwith no need to go look for a Fireteam.

8Enhanced Mini-Map

Although Destiny 2’s mini-map comes in handy during the battles, it is completely lackluster when it comes to roaming around the planets. Honestly, we don’t expect to have a mini-map to show all the corners and hidden paths in the game, as exploration and discovering hidden routes is a part of Destiny 2’s DNA.

However, all we ask for is to have the same map for planets showcased on the mini-map. It has probably happened to you a lot that you stand still, open up the map, check your location, check your target, and then decide which way you need to go. Well, instead of this outdated process, what would be the negative impact of having the same map on a mini-map indicator? That way we can stop transitioning from the game to the map and vice versa. Obviously, we don’t get any extra hints here, but it would be a huge time saver for players.

7Sparrow-Oriented Activities

Destiny 2 is clearly missing out on the potential of Sparrows. Currently, they are only used for faster traversal on planets, but there are very few activities that use Sparrows purposefully. After announcing thefishing activityin Season of the Deep, the community surely wouldn’t mind having activities where Sparrows actually become more important than weapons.

Sparrow racing events, or even time-trial challenges, could be quite a lot of fun.Lightfallactually set quite a solid foundation by adding some Sparrow-based objectives inside the Vex simulation arena, but Bungie could surely expand those small objectives to become an activity of their own.

6More Rewarding Season Pass

Of course, Destiny offers significant rewards in each Season Pass, and we don’t have a problem with that. However, the part that has to change is the post-season pass era. We all know that 100 tiers of rewards aren’t enough for veteran Destiny 2 players, as most of them get to complete the tiers weeks before the end of the season. And after that, they start to gain ranks beyond 100.

Although Destiny 2 gives away an Eververse Engram for every 10 ranks that players earn beyond the original Season Pass, that is not honestly rewarding enough. Players are happier with the resources such as Enhancement Cores, Enhancements Prisms, and even Legendary Shards or Glimmers than Eververse Engrams as bonus rewards. So, while Destiny 2 can randomize the rewards for every 10 ranks, a better way of upgrading Season Pass is adding more original ranks to it, like up to 150.

5Improved Vault Management

It’s been a long time that the in-game Vault for storing weapons and gears has been a mess. Imagine you are looking for a Solar Auto Rifle in your Vault, but you don’t have any sorting options either for weapon type or damage type. So, you have no choice other than to search the entire Vault for the weapon you need.

If Bungie just adds some more sorting options based on weapon type, damage type, weapon slot, and the same categories for armor, it could save a significant amount of time for players.

4Gambit Overhaul

The most cliché request that you see in almost every similar list! But honestly, the game and the community deserve this change. Gambit is fun, but the lack of change and new content has made it a dull experience for players. You don’t really need to be a veteran Destiny 2 player to realize that Gambit needs a big overhaul.

The gameplay loop is just becoming more tiresome as time passes, and the fact that you are required to play it at least a few times every week to complete your Pinnacle runs raises the hate over Gambit even more among the community. At this point, Bungie must take a look at its PvPvE game mode and either replace it with something completely new or deeply revamp it.

S Pass

3Ping System

I can’t stress how necessary a ping system is for Destiny 2. Each time that you group up with a Fireteam to do a new activity or participate in a Sherpa run, you remember how crucial the ping system is for Destiny 2 mentors to teach others the mechanics and secrets of an activity.

Honestly, this is one of the basic features that every multiplayer game, especially with a PvP mode, includes at this time. Destiny 2 players have been waiting years for it and Bungie still doesn’t seem to care. For now, players just shoot bullets to show others the locations in an environment, but even less-experienced players in Destiny 2 know that there are many raid or dungeon encounters where shooting a single bullet wakes up the boss.

2New Weapon Category

Although Destiny 2 features a wide variety of weapon categories at the moment, it’s been quite a while since we have received a new weapon type. This one might sound big enough that we should probably wait for it in Destiny 3, or at least in the post Dark-Light saga. There is no doubt that the game is quite ready for it.

Probably the biggest challenge for such an addition would be the balancing process of the weapons for PvP and PvE modes, but Destiny 2 may draw inspiration from one of those creative weapons we already saw inCyberpunk 2077, as they resonate well enough with Destiny 2’s lore. Just imagine a new weapon type capable of a larger crosshair that automatically hits any enemies inside it. Of course, we have similar functionalities with a bunch of Rocket Launchers at the moment, but there are more weapon types to be explored.

1Leveling Up Older Activities

Well, this one might be the most controversial topics inside the community, but if it doesn’t happen in the future, Destiny 2’s older content will surely lose its authority and fun. The problem is the fact that older activities, such as raids and dungeons from earlier years of Destiny 2, have a significant Recommended Level gap with the modern content Just take a look at the Last Wish raid. One of Destiny 2’s most difficult and incredibly fun raids has now become as easy as a Seasonal Activity as players get to one-phase almost all bosses either with their massive level advantage or thanks to “cheese” mechanics.

Of course, we don’t want Last Wish to become a nightmare again, but at least Bungie should change the power level in a way that it plays the way it is meant to. This way players can enjoy the content, have fun, and experience a bit of challenge. Maybe leveling up is the worst way to do it, but if it helps to make those older raids and dungeons fun again, then why not?
