FollowingCyberpunk 2077’s 2.2 update, many of us believed that that would be curtains for Night City, at least so far as V and Johnny Silverhand’s story was concerned.
Although 2.2 was indeed dubbed the “last major update” for the game, introducing various fixes and improvements such ascar paint customization and a secret Balatro quest, another update in January (Patch 2.21) helped to further refine the new features and erase any new issues that cropped up.

Now, six months later,it seems that Cyberpunk 2077 is due to receive yet another, potentially major, update. During theREDStream Nintendo Switch demo, Associate Game Director Pawel Sasko said he would be “taking care of the update personally” and that further details will follow soon.
More Gas In The Tank?
The news comes as something of a surprise given that the studio hasnow started work on the Cyberpunk sequel (Project Orion)and is also in the midst of developing the highly anticipated Witcher 4.
Today, he posted again, telling fans to “stay tuned for more info” along with a photo of the default male V in a basketball jersey.

Opinions vary as to whether the update will be a mere technical adjustment or an all-out DLC, but CDPR’s Global Community Director Marcin Momot did come out in December 2024 to say that “the [Cyberpunk 2077] team still has some gas left in the tank”.
Given that Project Orion is still some way off, Cyberpunk fans can look forward to some potential new content in Night City once again. Given the success of Phantom Liberty andhow well the gradual improvement of the game was received, it seems like a no-brainer to keep loyal players happy and provide the best experience possible to them.

In the meantime, the world of Cyberpunk 2077 is still very much alive with the comic series Psycho Squad being made available earlier this year, along withthe other Cyberpunk 2077 comics.
It was also confirmed thata new animated show could be heading to Netflixlater this year, so no, Cyberpunk 2077 is definitely nowhere near dead yet.
