Criminal Mindstook the entire crime drama genre to a whole new level with its dark yet interesting plotlines. It premiered in 2005 and almost immediately took over CBS screens. While it was rising in popularity, it also had its own share of controversies. Out of the lot, bribes taken by a key crew member of the show would definitely stand the tallest.

An investigation done by a major magazine revealed that Scott David, the casting director of the procedural drama, faced accusations that he had struggling actors pay to get them into the show. While it was definitely scandalous, it could have had its own episode inCriminal Minds,given the intriguing plot.

Criminal Mindsis known for its interesting storylines and how a group of criminal profilers working under the FBI investigate crimes. The show was an immediate hit when it was released in 2005, however, it also became embroiled in a major scandal in 2016 all thanks to Scott David. He was the long-time casting director of the show but was dismissed when his name was brought up in a “Pay to Play” scam.
The entire fiasco unraveled whenThe Hollywood Reporter, which had launched an investigation into Hollywood’s troubling pay-to-play practices. In it, they named David as well, and just a day after the article was published, Touchstone Television, the production company behindCriminal Minds, terminated him from the show.

This happened in March of 2016 and in a letter dated April 14 he added“My time with Criminal Minds ended for myriad reasons.”While he directly didn’t talk about the controversy, he defended the workshops offered by his company ‘The Actors Link.” Adding that they have complied with California’s Krekorian Talent Scam Prevention Act. He also added:
My business partner and I are very clear in our messaging that the workshops we offer at The Actors Link are not auditions nor employment opportunities but rather educational platforms where actors can come to better prepare themselves for future opportunities.

Immediately after the scandal, his company ‘The Actors Link’ quickly revamped its workshop formats. For instance, before the workshop, only one actor at a time to perform a scene privately with the casting director and a staff member. This was done so that the setup feels more like a real audition.

However, the new format included a small group of two to five actors, who watch each other perform and then take turns participating. This change was apparently done to bring in a better learning experience for everyone.

Friendship took a different turn forCriminal Mindsactor Shemar Moore when a guest star from the show stole more than $60,000 from him. The person in question was Keith Tisdell, who became friends with Moore when he made an appearance on season 8 of the show. He played the role of Rodney Harrison, a character he had played in season 2 of the show as well.
They quickly developed a good rapport, and the actor helped Tisdell financially and also included him in his charitable work. Moore started his organization Baby Girl LLC to support multiple sclerosis research, inspired by his mother who had the disease herself. After Keith Tisdell became involved in the organization, he was soon arrested on suspicion of embezzlement.

In court, theactor added that he trusted Tisdell, and even paid for $10,000 in car rims, overseas vacations, and up to $20,000 in personal expenses. The entire theft scenario only came to light when they did the audit of the charity’s finances.
Moore even confronted Tisdell, but he denied being involved. After this, he was ordered by the court to repay $61,000 that he stole from the actor’s charity.
