This overworld is packed with optional areas, hidden items, monsters, and also a few Lost Gestrals scattered across its vastness.
This guide will show youall Lost Gestral locations inClair Obscur: Expedition 33and the rewards you get for finding these harmless little critters.
All Lost Gestrals are found in the overworld. Three can be found while traveling by foot, three with Esquie’s swim and coral-breaking ability, and three by flying.
Rewards for Finding All Lost Gestrals
Every time you find a Lost Gestral, it returns to Sastro, a Gestral located at the Camp. You know, the Camp we access by pressing down on the D-pad while traveling the overworld.
With every new Lost Gestral found, Sastro gives us a reward. To be honest, they’re quite underwhelming. The first few are some ridiculous haircuts for the characters, and later, we get Colours of Lumina, which are nice but not worth the effort of chasing down these little devils.

However, after finding four Lost Gestrals, we learn the Paint Break ability, which allows us to break Paint Spikes. Paint Spikes look like tree trunks with blue veins.
By destroying them, you can find some Pictos, Colours of Lumina, andcrafting materials. Don’t worry, there’s nothing as important as collectibles hidden behind these spikes.
Last but not least, by finding all the Lost Gestral, I got the most high-level Picto I have ever seen. Its effects are pretty uninsteristing at first glance, but its high stat boosts to your health and speed are very nice. For platinum hunters, know that there’s also a trophy/achievement tied to finding all nine Gestrals.

Lost Gestral #1
The main story naturally points you toward this Lost Gestral, so it’s pretty hard to miss this one.
The earliest you’re able to find it is after finishing Flying Waters. It’s on the World Map, to the east of the AncientSanctuaryentrance, right in front of Esquie’s Nest.
Lost Gestral #2
Once you acquire Esquie and his rock-breaking ability in the overworld, your next destination will be Stone Wave Cliffs. Once there,instead of heading straight toward the objective, take a turn right.
From a distance, you’ll see a giant Bourgeon. I trust your skills as an Expeditioner, so get to work and eliminate that Nevron.
After taking it down,keep going down a bit and look for a small opening to the rightto find a Lost Gestral.
Lost Gestral #3
After wrapping up Stone Wave Cliffs, Esquie will get swimming lessons and be able to take you to new areas through the sea.
This Lost Gestral is in the White Tree region,accessible by swimming behind the Gestral Beach from the game’s first region.
Lost Gestral #4
After the events of the Forgotten Battlefield, you’ll be back on the overworld map in the northern part of the region.
You’ll find this Lost Gestral in the middle groundbetween the Forgotten Battlefield’s exit and Monoco’s Station’s entrance.

In the more open area,you’ll find two Mimes and, just behind them, a Lost Gestral. You can ignore the Mimes if you want.

With flying Esquie, go to a reddish region in the eastern part of the world map. Land there and find the Lost Gestral, as shown in the screenshot.
But watch out. There are some nasty Nevrons nearby that pack quite the punch.

You’ll need to flyto a grassy field to the west of the Visages entrance,close to The Reacher zone.
There’s a Gestral Merchant nearby and a Lost Gestral in the area.

It took me about 5 hours scouring the entire overworld to find this little prick.That’s because he’s on a floating rock nearing the game’s sky ceiling.
Head near the Endless Tower and ascend as high as possible with Esquie.You’ll spot this Lost Gestral way up there. Sweet Mother of Lord, how thehelldid you get all the way up there?
After rescuing him, you’ll unlock the trophy/achievement and also get a high-level Picto after speaking to Sastro back at the Camp.
