Castlevaniais often lauded for its animation and direction, and there are countless other things to add to its praise. But very few will be able to discern the actual dedication that went into the visual quality of the series. The character designs, in particular, are worthy of admiration.
The original trio in Castlevania, Trevor Belmont, Sypha Belnades, and Alucard, are irreplaceable in the minds of fans. But the new-age Belmonts, featured inCastlevania: Nocturne, are no less. Their character designs alone speak volumes about how the series stands apart from any other video game to anime adaptation.

Castlevania: Nocturne, the spinoff to Netflix’s hit animated seriesCastlevania, takes place during the French Revolution. It is set approximately 300 years after the initial series. By the time, Sypha Belnades and Trevor Belmont, two central figures of the original series, have already passed away after bearing kids.
Thus, the Belmont bloodline carried on, and some of the characters in Castlevania: Nocturne are descendants or distant relatives of Sypha and Trevor. But what bowled fans over is the fact that the new-gen Belmonts actually look similar to their predecessors. The character designs of Julia and Richter are a testament to this fact.

The character designs of Julia and Richter are reminiscent of both Sypha and Trevor. While Richter and Julia have eyebrows like Richter, their eyes, lips, and noses are more similar to Sypha.

Sypha Belnades is one of the best charactersin the Castlevania trio. She is not only a master of elemental magic but also possesses agility, honed reflexes, and above-average strength. Her upbeat, playful, and kind natureworked wonderfully as a gluebetween the rougher characters of Trevor and Alucard.
Like Sypha, Julia was a powerful magic user and inherited the usage of elemental magic. She was a loving mother and a brave vampire hunter who fought till her last breath to protect her son, Richter. Richter is also a powerful mage with control over the elements. However, he is arrogant, impulsive, boisterous, and sarcastic, which might remind you more of Trevor. Still, at his core, he is selfless and compassionate like Sypha.
