Halois Xbox and Microsoft’s magnum opus. Even though the last couple of years haven’t been kind to the franchise, it’s still one of the biggest ones out there. Despite its success, it has received only a handful of spin-offs, but there were talks of making a new one.

Recently, one of the former leads of the game revealed that there were multiple newHalopitches, including an ODST game that was exactly like Sony’s smash-hitHelldivers 2. While the title might’ve not come to fruition, it had incredible potential as it could’ve finally touched upon The Insurrection.
CancelledHaloODST game could’ve explored a major war
One of the most brutal conflicts we’ve ever witnessed in theHalofranchise was The Insurrection. It wasn’t a war against aliens; it was a horrendous warfare during the 22nd and 23rd centuries between the forces of the UNSC and various colonial rebel groups.
The rebels, called“Insurrectionists,”stood against Earth’s control over the future of outer colonies. They often felt that their homelands were being heavily exploited for resources and neglected in regard to governance. The rebels didn’t shy away from violent methods and launched a series of hijackings, terrorists, and assassinations that caused mayhem for USNC.

Insurrectionists used guerrilla tactics against the UNSC that made the war bloody, causing heavy casualties on both sides. It was this event that eventually forced UNSC to create a Spartan program and make Doctor Halsey lead the charge for crafting humanity’s finest soldiers.

The conflict against Covenant wasn’t this terrible because at least some of its members, including the Sangheili, had some code of honor to live by. Rebels broke every code against their own human brothers and started off a war that ruined the relationship between the UNSC and the outer colonies.
Even HardcoreHalofans don’t know about The Insurrection because all the mainlinegames and spin-offs have barely touched upon this event despite its significance.

We don’t know what theHaloversion ofHelldivers 2was shaping up to be. There’s a chance its storyline could have taken place right after the events ofInfiniteor something else entirely. However, it would’ve been great to see the ODST live service game covering The Insurrection.
The canceled project could have allowed squads of players to take on insurgents in stealth-focused operations, save hostages, and collect valuable intel for the UNSC. With the addition of seasonal updates, the developers could have also branched off to different colonies, brought new ODST gear, and much more. The possibilities were infinite with such a storyline.

Halofranchise might benefit from Xbox handheld
Haloseems like the perfect series for handheld gaming. The series features fast-paced action with every multiplayer match, with short rounds and simple controls. However, there’s no way to properly experience the title on a handheld device.
Valve’s Steam Deck is a fantastic device, but playingHalogames on it is a nightmare because they suffer from technical issues. If players don’t spend a number of hours tweaking in-game settings, it’s impossible to play the games.

It’s a known fact thatMicrosoft is working on an Xbox handheld. Whenever it does come out, it must bring native support for theHalofranchise. There should be a fully working version forInfiniteandMaster Chief Collectionon the handheld, and not rely on remote or cloud play.
SinceHalois Xbox’s top franchise, whenever Microsoft starts marketing the handheld, it must put the spotlight on Master Chief and his adventures.
With that said, do you think Microsoft made a mistake by abandoning theHaloODST live-service title? Let us know in the comments below.
