As expected, Cillian Murphy bagged the Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role at the 96thAcademy Awards. The actor’s win honestly does not come as a surprise given the fact that he has been sweeping awards forOppenheimerover the past few months. While fans celebrated his win, there was one actor who was once again defeated by the hands of Cillian Murphy.
Bradley Cooper was also nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his work inMaestrobut just like the last couple of times, the actor lost the trophy to Cillian Murphy. Unable to hide his reactions, Bradley Cooper became somewhat of a meme on the Internet and it looks like he came across a few tweets himself because at the Oscars, the actor made sure to hide his face from the camera.
Bradley Cooper Tries to Hide His Reaction to the Oscar Loss
How many celebrities can say that they won the very first Oscar they were ever nominated for? Well,Cillian Murphycertainly can! The 2024 Oscars not only gave Murphy his very first Oscar nomination but also his first win. The actor was up againstBradley Cooper(Maestro),Colman Domingo(Rustin),Paul Giamatti (The Holdovers), andJeffrey Wright(American Fiction).
WhenBrendan Fraserwalked onto the Oscar stage with the envelope in his hand, all eyes were on him. Both fans and nominees waited in anticipation as the actor read out,“And the Oscar goes to…Cillian Murphy.”The audience erupted in celebration and the other nominees also applauded Murphy for his victory.
However, Cooper’s reaction to Murphy’s win was a little unusual as the actor turned his back to the camera immediately. Take a look at his reaction below:

It’s almost as if Cooper was aware that his reaction to losing yet another award to Murphy would once again go viral on the Internet and he just was not in the mood to become a meme again.
Bradley Cooper Loses to Cillian Murphy Again
Before the 2024 Oscars, Cooper had to go through something similar at theGolden Globesas well as theScreen Actors Guild Awards. Both Murphy and Cooper were nominated for Best Actor and as we all know, the former took home both the awards, leaving Cooper empty-handed.
What was worse for Cooper, though, was that his reactions to both losses started making rounds onsocial media, with fans making fun of how the actor reacted to it all.
The 2024 Oscars mark the twelfth nomination for Cooper and despite being nominated a dozen times, the actor has failed to have an Oscar to his name. And while Cooper tried his best to hide his reaction from the cameras, it was eventually picked up. Needless to say, fans had a lot to say about Cooper’s loss and his heartbreaking reaction.
