Every new villain inBorutobreaks the power scale and leaves fans wondering about the ultimate extent. There are many characters from the Otsutsuki clan who have god-tier abilities in the series. If they wanted to, they could easily defeat the protagonist, Uzumaki Boruto, without anyone being able to protect him. While the exact reason behind why they don’t do that isn’t clear, a newBoruto theoryhas emerged on the internet and it might answer all our questions regarding Boruto and the Otsutsuki.

This theory hints that Boruto might have a connection with Shibai Otsutsuki, the strongest being in the series known so far. His existence is shrouded in mystery, leading fans to speculate about his relevance in the story and how it’ll play out. So, here’s who Shibai is and how there could be a connection between him and the protagonist.
Here’s Everything We Know About Shibai Otsutsuki So Far
Shibai Otsutsuki was introduced to us through the exploration of Daemon and Ada’s powers and their origin. Shibai Otsutsuki was the God of the Otsutsuki clan. He had consumed multiple chakra fruits and sacrificed multiple worlds in the process, and attained godhood as a result. It’s believed that he has transcended to another realm and discarded his body willingly. Moreover, he is speculated to be the strongest character in the series and can use a wide range of techniques, including omnipotence, clairvoyance, foresight, and Shinjutsu.

Since this revelation, Shibai hasn’t been mentioned often in the series. No one knows about his current status or his true motivations. However, his introduction has made fans certain that he’ll be reintroduced in the story at some point. One would instantly think that he’ll be the main villain or something along those lines, but onetheory suggests that it might be the opposite, and Shibai might have some connection to Boruto.
Boruto’s Potential Connection with Shibai Otsutsuki is Worth Exploring
After a statement made by Jurain the manga, many fans started to believe that there is some connection between Shibai and Boruto, and the former might not be an antagonist. TheseReddittheoriessuggest that Shibai might be looking out for Boruto in some way. Unlike the other Otsutsuki, he might have some sort of fascination with the idea of human evolution.

Moreover, his abilities allowed him to foresee the future and he ended up giving Boruto the Jougan to end the cycle and put a stop to the history between humans and the Otsutsuki. After Jura attempted to kill Boruto and failed, he said that some sort of divine power might be watching over him. Fans believe that this divine power is none other than Shibai Otsutsuki himself. It’ll also explain the origin of what seems like a Jougan wielded by Boruto.
Similar to how Hagoromo Otsutsuki entrusted the faith of the world to Naruto and Sasuke, Shiba’s relationship with Boruto might evolve similarly. Besides Jura’s words, there’s not much evidence that supports this theory. Yet, if this connection is indeed whatMasashi Kishimotohad planned, many mysteries will be answered.

For that to happen, Shibai will need to be reintroduced in the series. There’s another possibility that might never bring him back, and Code continues to be the final villain of the series. However, given how the characters narrate Shibai’s legends, it’s safe to expect that we’ll get some sort of explanation about his existence, which will expand our existing knowledge of the character.
