XDefiant, the latest contender in the race to become the current king of FPS titles, has garnered much attention and praise from players, arguably outshiningCall of Duty. The game’s fast-paced and competitive nature allures all who engage in the genre, and some now expect it to become the next big thing in gaming.

No game has ever had as great of a chance to dethrone Call of Duty as XDefiant does.

However, despite its initial success, not all are entirely on board with the game, whether due to its ties to Ubisoft, gameplay issues, or perhaps, as we’ll now shed some light on, its player base.

XDefiant’s Highly Competitive Nature Pushes Many Away From the Game

For now,XDefiantcontinues to grow in popularity, all thanks to its free-to-play nature and frenetic gameplay. In the background, though,Ubisoft is doing everything it canto ensure the trend continues for the foreseeable future. Unfortunately, cracks are already beginning to surface on the game’s shiny exterior.

XDefiant Season 3 Reportedly Bringing Assassin’s Creed: Maps from 2 Beloved AC Games to be Added

In a recently removed Reddit post, user Walksintherainfan sparked a critical discussion within the community, lamenting the game’s excessively competitive nature and sweaty player base. The OP said,

“Guys, I’m awful. I’m out. Never thought I would say this but this is a bigger sweat fest than cod. Played since launch, I’m not getting better. Too old, too shit. I accept it lol. Runs back to sbmm (Skill-based Matchmaking).”

As one may expect, the post received mixed reactions. While many criticized the user for quitting the game and not sticking with it long enough to complete the challenges or wait for patches, many more agreed, highlighting the existence of“tryhards,”who can make the game far less enjoyable and even toxic for casual players.

Although many have praised Ubisoft’s decision to remove skill-based matchmaking from the game, given the system’s economic and psychological impact on players, many feel outmatched and downright frustrated, showcasing the need for change.

With a bit more polish and fewer shenanigans by Ubisoft, XDefiant may succeed in the long run.

For Now, However, Tryhards Are the Least of XDefiant’s Problems

Beyond the debate of a few sweaty players, it’s clear that Ubisoft still has a long list of issues to work through beforeXDefiantbecomes a permanent success in the community’s eyes, andnet code is the least of the problems here.

“We have the opportunity to do that now”: XDefiant Has a Feature Ubisoft’s Other Games Can Only Dream of

We all know thatXDefianthas a net code problem, given how many reports of lag and hit registration problems have popped up since the game’s release, but right now, the level of cheating present in this game is unprecedented.

It’s so bad that many consider the issue worse than what players have experienced inCall of Duty. Add the jumping issue and the lack of overall balance to the mix, and it’s clear that, should you decide to stick with the game long enough, it will be an unpleasant experience for now.

That being said, even ifCall of Duty: Black Ops 6is right around the corner,XDefiantstill has the potential to become a far more successful game if Ubisoft continues to address and work on its problems. With that out of the way, what are your thoughts onXDefiant‘s issues? Is the game as much of a“sweat fest”as some players suggest? Let us know in the comments below.
