Vince Gilligan’sBetter Call Saulis now hailed as the most snubbed show at the Emmy Awards after it earned 53 nominations and zero wins. It was recently nominated for five categories, yet it came home empty-handed. As one of the greatest television shows, many fans were left baffled and extremely enraged.
This is not a new trend in the franchise, though, because even beforeBetter Call Saul’s losing streak at the Emmys,Breaking Badwas also snubbed for a number of categories, including one of its best-ever episodes.

Breaking Bad’s Highly-Acclaimed Episode Shockingly Lost ToTrue Detective
In 2014,Vince Gilligan’sBreaking Badwas nominated for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for ‘Felina’. The episode received a 9.9/10 rating on IMDb, and yet, it lost to Cary Fukunaga’sTrue Detective.
Even the director could not believe he won an Emmy for his work on the first season of the HBO show. Upon accepting his award, he admitted not bothering to prepare a speech and instead only had a list of names. He said after the event viaUproxx:
“I can’t really imagine a better first foray into television. What more could you ask for? Maybe wins. Wins is the next thing you ask for. But, you know…”
Fans were very upset about the result of the recent Emmys, particularly the loss of theBreaking Badspinoff. Still, actressRhea Seehornteased that she and Gilligan are prepping for a new project which fans should look forward to. Who knows, this might be their chance to finally grab that Emmy win. She toldTHR:
“We’re never allowed to say anything! He’s already released that it has a sci-fi element; more psychological than full space. And he wrote it for me — which is hard to say without crying. And we will shoot in Albuquerque, with a lot of the same crew.”
Seehorn noted that the director loves to work with the same set of people, but before fans assume that it might have something to do withBreaking BadorBetter Call Saul, the actress already warned that it’s a completely new project.
Apart from sharing the location, she also revealed that it’s a role she has never played before. The Emmy Awards night gave a bittersweet note to the end of an epic saga that spun for six seasons.

Vince Gilligan seems ready to leave theBreaking Badfranchise even after he toldRolling Stonethat he would definitely like to revisit it sometime. For the director, it has reached its conclusion, and with the number of spinoffs it already has, perhaps it is now time to close the curtain.
“I look around at some of the worlds, the universes, the stories that I love, whether they’re on TV or in the movies, and I think there’s a certain point, and it’s hard to define, where you’ve done too much in the same universe. Just leave it alone.”
As avid fans, it is truly difficult to face the reality that one of the best television shows in history has been snubbed repeatedly at the Emmys while knowing too darn well that it deserved so much better.
