It looks like theBattlefieldseries is going to be taking another crack at the battle royale genre.
The Battlefield Labs project, which is an ongoing playtesting project by DICE and EA that will eventually become the next Battlefield game, is set to transition from pre-alpha to the alpha stage.

This information comes from playtesters (viaInsider Gaming), as Battlefield Labs saw a massive update that seems to mostly change the internal watermarks and labels to say “Alpha.”
The update also includes material and files that seem to indicate thatBattlefield 6 will include a battle royale mode, something that had leaked a couple of months ago.

Taking Another Shot
According to Insider Gaming, their playtester sent images seemingly of the battle royale mode, including one of a skirmish between two teams of four in an abandoned factory, one of two characters looting weapons from a hole in a wall, and another of four with different-colored parachutes landing in a city.
Their source also says to expect a trailer for the next Battlefield within the next two months, which lines up with what we’ve heard from Battlefield Studios Global Senior Director of Integrated Comms Andy McNamara thata full reveal is still set for this summer, even after skipping Summer Game Fest.

This won’t be the first time the Battlefield series has experimented with a battle royale mode, as Battlefield V receivedits own battle royale mode called Firestorm.
Battlefield Labs Leak Allegedly Shows Every Battlefield 6 Gadget
Expect familiar gadgets from BF2042 to be present.
Firestorm wasnotably short-lived, getting its duos mode axed within months of launchdue to low player numbers.
The battle royale genre as a whole isn’t the oversaturated mess it once was, these days dominated bya relatively small number of massive titles, one of whichbeing Call of Duty: Warzone.
While we still don’t know much about Battlefield 6, we have some idea of when we can expect it to release, as EA has announced thatit will launch sometime before March 2026, but it wouldn’t be the first time they’ve changed its release window.
Hopefully, if this talk about a battle royale mode is true, it fares better than Firestorm did, and Battlefield 6 as a whole is going to have a rough road to redeem the series after the lacklusterBattlefield 2042.
