Batman: The Animated Seriesis an iconic animated series that aired from 1992 to 1995 and became a nostalgic show for people all over the world. With a dedicated team at hand forBatman: TAS, producer Alan Burnett also felt proud of his work.

Alan Burnett revealed that when he moved to Disney, he had a very particular reason for it. Stating budgetary reasons and the limits of his imagination, here’s what prompted theBatman: The Animated Seriesproducer to move to Disney!

Alan Burnett served as a producer onBatman: The Animated Seriesuntil the series ended in 1995. But before he served as the producer, Burnett was a part of the team at Disney. Working on shows likeTheSmurfs, Johnny Quest,and, more, the transition to DC might have been not so smooth.
In an interview withThe Pitch,Burnett revealed that there was one specific reason why he joined Disney in the first place. The reason had to do with budget and how it wasn’t enough for his imagination.

“Yeah, well, basically on all of that stuff, we’re writing for a younger audience. My first six or seven years was at Hanna-Barbera. I was at a brand-spanking new and perfect place to learn the business.”
He further continued,

“By the seventh year, I told my agent I really want better animation in the stuff I write. That was the reason why I moved to Disney for a while, as they were doing outstanding animation for Saturday morning.”

As the interview continued, Alan Burnett talked about how he joined DC and more particularly, how he got hooked onBatman: The Animated Series,and it’s got much to do with DCAU legendBruce Timmand Eric Radomski.

“She [Jean MacCurdy] got me to come over to do this Batman series and what sold it for me–because I really wanted to get out of Saturday morning and animation generally–was the trailer that Bruce Timm and Eric Radomski–the other producer–had made. I saw that and I said, “Well, I’ve gotta come over here.”
In the end,Batman: The Animated Seriesreceived a rating of 9/10 on IMDB and a whopping 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.The iconic series, produced by Alan Burnett is available to stream on Max in the U.S.
