The final promo video forBaldur’s Gate 3’s Patch 8 update has been released, showing the combat potential of thenew arcane spellcaster subclassesand how they can jump in on the front lines and fight with the best of them.

In Baldur’s Gate 3, mostprimary spellcaster classesare supposed to hang out in the back row and lob spells from a distance. This is because their ranged potential is offset by low hit points and restricted armor access, making it easier for enemies to take them down.

A new video on the Larian: Channel From Hell on YouTube has outlined some of the newsubclasses arriving in Patch 8. These are all powerful options for the casters for players who love battle.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 8 Is Making Spellcasters Tough

The Shadow Magic Sorcerer derives power from the Shadowfell, giving them Superior Darkvision (which can be seen through magical darkness) and Strength of the Grave, which lets them survive being downed with a single hit point. They can Shadow Warp between dark areas and summon a Hound of Ill Omen to slay their foes.

TheHexblade Warlock is infamousinDungeons & Dragonsfor being part of some of the best melee builds. If a Hexblade kills a living enemy, they can summon it back as a spirit that deals Necrotic damage. This spirit can also drain life from foes to heal the Hexblade.

Bladesinging (also known as Bladesingers) mix magic and swordplay into a kind of dance. When they perform their Bladesong, they gain a significant boost to their Armor Class and speed, allowing them to survive on the front lines in combat. They also benefit from some of thenew melee Cantripsthat are being added in Patch 8.

Those who are sick of the squishy spellcasters in the base version of Baldur’s Gate 3 will finally be able to unleash havoc on the battlefield when Patch 8 finally launches. Unfortunately, Larian still hasn’t revealed when that will be, so the next playthrough will have to wait a little longer.
