Does Eren Die in Attack on Titan Season 4, Part 2, Episode 3

In the latest episode, Gabi, an honorary Marleyan, manages to shoot and subsequently decapitate Eren – who was frantically sprinting towards a wounded Zeke to triggerthe Rumbling. Many of the series' main characters are seen in shock as the scene unfolds before the show cuts away to a different scene with Zeke and Eren at the Paths (also known as the Coordinate). But did Eren die at this moment?

The short answer is no. After being shot by Gabi, Eren’s head makes contact with Zeke, and the two areinstantly transported to the Paths. In this realm, the two encounter Ymir (the original Founding Titan), and Zeke attempts to convince Ymir to use her abilities to wipe out the Eldian race. However, it is ultimately Eren who manages to communicate with Ymir, persuading her togrant himthe full power of the Founding Titan.

Time works differently within the realm of the Paths. The whole confrontation between Zeke, Eren, and Ymirtranspires in a fraction of a secondfrom the perspective of those in the real world. Essentially, Eren makes contact with Zeke before he actually dies, is sent to the realm of the Paths, and returns with the full abilities of the Founding Titan -thus saving him from deathand allowing him to trigger the Rumbling.
