In the past, Tartakovsky has revealed the design for the proposed series, which never made it past the initial stage. Genndy Tartakovsky Revealed His Superman Design for Animated Series That Never Happened
Genndy Tartakovskywas developing a series based on the iconic DC Comics character Superman. Tartakovsky shared the news through anInstagram postmade on his official account in 2020. The prolific animator revealed in the post that he was asked to craft some short Superman cartoons.

Tartakovsky wrote the above in the post’s caption, revealing that the series never materialized and fell into obscurity.

The series received critical acclaim for its first and second seasons, with praise for its visual style and minimal dialog. However, the second season finale, which was released in September 2022, left question marks over the show’s future.
“I want it to almost become an anthology show, where season 3 would still be called Primal, but with a different subheading.”

Tartakovsky made the above statement in an interview withEntertainment Weekly, revealing his plans for the show’s future. On July 10, 2025, the series was officially renewed for a third installment, which is expected to comprise a total of ten episodes.
