As players roam the lands ofRed Dead’sworld with its many outlaws, crimes and violence, the thought about whether certain scenes are real or not is something that lingers in the back of minds, but this new audiobook published by Macmillan looks to dissect some of the thorniest dilemmas of American history between 1865 and 1920.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Short Film Shows Arthur Morgan’s Story In A Different Light
A Red Dead Redemption 2 fan has spent months crafting a 38-minute short film that spans the entirety of the story.
In an exclusive sneak peek by Game Rant, the first 6 minutes of the Audiobook can be finally heard, in which the delectable voice of Roger Clark can be heard asking listeners if they recognize a scene from one of the Red Dead Redemption games. “Let’s start with a trivia question. From which of the Red Dead Redemption games is the following scene plucked?” before going on to talk about the Pinkerton detective agency and their plan to overtake a gang.
What’s interesting is that the initial question Clark asks from listeners was actually a trick and not a scene pulled from either of the Rockstar games, but rather taken from the pages of a real American history book involving the James–Younger Gang led by Frank and his brother, Jesse James - the latter you may have heard of.
“Isn’t it startling, though, how this flesh-and-blood encounter sounds as if it were lifted from the narrative of the Red Dead Redemption games?” says Clark in his familiar deep Southern drawl we have become so accustomed to while playing the game. “This suggests the pains that Rockstar Games, the developer of the series, took to capture the world of the late 1800s”.
Written by Tore Carl Olsson, Ph.D., an Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in History at the University of Tennessee, who also teaches an undergraduate course on the history of the Red Dead franchise, the audiobook is set for release on August 6, but if you fancy jumping in and pre-ordering it, head on over toAmazon.
