Apex Legendsis all about getting the edge on the other squads in the match, and whom you play as will ultimately determine your team’s fate. Having a versatile, all-around combatant capable of reaching the high ground and disrupting enemy movement is everything good about Horizon.

This gravity-manipulating scientist was introduced to Apex season seven and remained a staple in the battle arena. Horizon is regarded as one of the best Legends, but her skill set may not come naturally for all players. Here are ten tips to help give you the edge when playing as Horizon.

10Crouch When Landing

Even though Apex has no fall damage, the delay after a high fall leaves players vulnerable to enemy fire. The first fundamental rule to playing as Horizon is to utilize her Passive, Spacewalk, and to use it often. This seemingly underwhelming ability is one of the best Passives in the game, as it eliminates the landing delay when falling from a high place.

This ability only gets better when you crouch at the moment of impact, as it allows Horizon to slide her way out of the fall and right into motion without obstruction. This is especially useful when your squad attempts to outrun ring damage on your way to the circle.

9Take The Lift

The Gravity Lift may not seem flashy at first, but its utility can be used in almost any situation. This Tactical ability sends a device out that lifts players 30 meters into the air, able to reach higher places and overcome large obstacles. Players can either take it straight up or fling themselves out in the direction of their choice.

Unlike Octane’s Jump Pad, this Lift stays active for 10 seconds, allowing players to remain at the top and fire down at their opponents. Pairing this with Spacewalk is a match made in Heaven as it will enable you to comfortable land without delay. With a 20-second cooldown rate, this ability can and should be used often to get the edge on your foes.

8Don’t Live On The Lift

While on the Gravity Lift, there are some drawbacks to using it without thinking. First, it is deafening when placed on the ground and can quickly draw the attention of enemy squads. It’s best to use this when enemies after a fight have begun, especially if you and your team are attempting to third party.

It can be an excellent tool for catching foes off-guard by firing down from the top of the Lift. However, this should be done sparingly as it leaves you wide open for return fire. Lastly, If another squad is hunting you down, be mindful that anybody, especially your pursuers, can use this Tactical.

7Look For A Better Vantage Point

Horizon’s abilities are designed for her to reach high places quickly, so fighting on the ground floor is a fatal error. Starting a skirmish with an intelligent deployment of her Lift can make all the difference, so start from there. Before launching full speed ahead, ensure you know where you want to go.

Ideally, you will want to find a high place with a cover that’s difficult to reach by enemies. Don’t worry about always having your squad up high with you. One of Horizon’s strengths is her ability to gun down unsuspecting enemies, and if your whole team is in a confined space, chances are enemies will take notice and lob grenades your way.

6Stand Your (Mid) Ground

An Eva-8 is impressively strong up close, but not when you’re 100 meters away. Having the right weapons will matter much more when playing as Horizon. Her load-out should focus more on mid to long-range weapons than shotguns and SMGs. Firearms like the Hemlock or the G-7 Scout are must-picks.

Many streamers and pro players don’t use sniper rifles since they have a slow rate of fire, but Horizon is an exception to this rule. Besides Vantage and Pathfinder, Horizon is one of the better sniper picks in the game. If you go this route, let your squad in close while you stay behind to pick off unsuspecting foes.

5Unleash The Black Hole

While Horizon’s Passive and Tactical aren’t flashy, her Ultimate is nothing but flash. Her Ultimate, Black Hole, creates a singularity that pulls anyone and anything towards the center for 12 seconds, making escape nearly impossible. Enemies trapped inside are highlighted for easy targeting, although having a Digital Threat sight makes it even easier.

It may be tempting to use this all the time, but instead, it’s better to use these on enemies hiding behind cover, in front of doorways, or when enemies are trying to revive downed teammates. Play defensively by using this Ultimate.

4Stock Up On Grenades

The bombastic Fusemay be the best character when lobbing grenades at enemies, but Horizon is no slouch. Grenades are a perfect match with Horizon’s Ultimate as it pulls enemies and everything else, including grenades. After launching Newt toward your enemies, quickly throw three or four grenades in the same direction.

This combo is a great way to knock out multiple players at once. Be mindful that this combo can also damage your team. So stock up on Arc Stars and Frag Grenades after you find an ample weapon or two.

3Always Have An Escape Route

Horizon’s abilities are great for getting her into the fray, but they can also be used to escape sticky situations. Her Gravity Lift, for example, can still hoist downed teammates. So if a squad mate gets knocked, quickly throw the Lift to safely bring them behind cover before you begin to revive them.

Horizon’s Ultimate is also an excellent tool to prevent enemies from pushing. Throw Newt in front of doorways or openings where enemies can create a cover for your squad. Although it doesn’t stop enemy bullets, Newt has 175 HP, which can be used as a makeshift wall.

2Team Up To Throw Down

Team composition matters no matter who you play as, and Horizon is no exception. Pairing her with defensive legends like Gibraltar orthe electrifying Watsongoes exceptionally well together since Horizon can cover their mobility shortcomings thanks to her Tactical.

Teaming up with Recon Legends like Bloodhound and Seer also works since they can help shed light on enemy locations. The only issue with too many support Legends on one squad is a lack of offensive abilities. If you are on a team with Wraith and a Fuse, stay back and fire from above.

1Study Chaos Theory

Horizon’s abilities are extraordinary on paper but can be used more interestingly if you think outside the box. If you’re inside a building and an advancing party begins to rush you, throw a Gravity Lift inside to protect your squad. If you do this at the right time, you may launch enemies to the ceiling, where they will become easy targets.

You can also use the Lift on enemies if near an out-of-bounds area or cliff, as this can send them flying right off the map. The Lift also disrupts the direction of bullets, which can also be used in a pinch. These methods shouldn’t be your go-to strategy, but they can help you survive a little longer, if not a lot more fun.
