The success of third-person co-op sci-fi shooterHelldivers 2has been apparent since its launch last month with an all-time peak of over 458,709 players. As with many other successful games in its wake, places like Netflix have slid in to make an animated show of them, for better or for worse, and right now, it seems the perfect time for this intergalactic game to get one of its very own.
Although, of course, nothing has been announced right now about whether the Arrowhead Game Studios title will jump into the animated spotlight, one very talented fan and animator decided to create one in the meantime - and it looks amazing.

Time For An Animated Helldivers 2?
Throughout the years, video games have seen their very own rise and fall when it comes to animated shows. From some of the best, which includes Arcane, Castlevania, and 1993’s Sonic the Hedgehog, to some of the worst - I’m looking at you Bayonetta: Bloody Fate.
So, suppose you were hoping for a Helldivers 2 animated show? In that case, there’s a very good chance that this could happen at some stage, given how popular it is and how much could be done within its stunning and chaotic environment. Still, until then, one animator has created a short clip of Helldivers 2 animated in the style of Genndy Tartakovsky’s 2003 Clone Wars to whet the appetite of fans.

Creator and animatorBNBakuspecializes in Goo Engine and Blender, as well as being inspired by 90s anime like Cowboy Bebop, Akira, and Ghost in the Shell, with the aim of revitalizing that much sought-after classic aesthetic and implementing it into the modern age. Although the animated Helldivers 2 clip is only 16 seconds long, it has so far garnered over 3 million views, so it’s safe to say that people are really digging it.
Many of the comments under the clip have been praising the hell out of how well done the video is, even getting the attention of PlayStation UK who had to chime in with a GIF of their own. From the clip’s gun noises to the backing music, it oozes 90s nostalgic charm, but now, more than anything, what we need is an even longer clip showcasing the rest of BNBaku’s incredible work.

And who knows, maybe they’ll even get to work on a future Helldivers 2 animation project, because they are certainly onto something with this one, and it’s obvious that fans are all in on the intergalactic strugglefor democracy to get picked up sooner rather than later. Just remember where you saw it first!
