It’s over three years since Microsoftofficially revealedthatAge of Empires 4is in the development pipeline, but since then, the game hasn’t even received a release date. However, a new end-of-the-year update from World’s Edge reveals that everything is going on according to plans. As you may know,Age of Empires 4was in development at Relic Entertainment since 2017, but back in 2019, Microsoft formed up a new studio called World’s Edge to help Relic out with the project and bring more focus onAge of Empires 1-3: Definitive Edition. Earlier in 2019, the developers shareda brief gameplay trailerfromAge of Empires 4, but since then, we haven’t received anything new about the game.In a recentdeveloper updatefrom World’s Edge, the team listed all the things they worked on in 2020. Aside from updatingAge of Empires 2: Definitive Editionwith more new content and deliveringAge of Empires 3: Definitive Edition, the studio revealed that they have also made great progress in developingAge of Empires 4.

Although the update didn’t reveal what stage of development the game is currently in, it did mention that developers are playing it in the studio every day, and the result feels like anAge of Empiresgame, as it should be.

It’s great to hear that everything is on the right track with the development ofAge of Empires 4, despite all the challenging situations that the COVID-19 pandemic caused in 2020. The best part is that World’s Edge teased that there are much more to come this year about the wholeAge of Empiresfranchise.
