One Tree Hillalum Chad Michael Murray is still not ready to revisit his time in the famed series even after more than a decade has passed. In fact, he admitted to removing that part of his life from his memory. Fans will remember he played the main protagonist, Lucas Scott.
It’s normal for actors to have that uneasy feeling rewatching their old shows. The beloved drama ran for nine seasons, but Murray only appeared until Season 6. The reason was reportedly due to contract negotiations, which led to his premature exit.

Chad Michael Murraywon’t dare himself take a peek, not even one episode ofOne Tree Hill, as he told his former costarBethany Joy Lenzat Christmas Con in 2022. The show premiered in 2003 and concluded in 2012, and the actor admitted it’s too difficult to look back on it (viaPeople):
It’s a section of my life that I deleted. A lot of development, a lot of growth as a human being, and [I] just deleted so much of it.
This is quite a surprising statement from the actor. He likened the experience to iPhones with hard drives that hold 264 gigabytes. Now he’s down to a 32-gigabyte device because he has thrown out the old information and booted everything.
Despite his refusal to rewatch the series, he’s happy to reunite with his former costars. He considers them family, and seeing them again makes him feel happy and safe to be around. The cast reunited in 2022 duringA Week in Tree Hillfan convention, and he said the event was “one of the best experiences” he’s had in a long time.

The sense of nostalgia and familiarity filled him up, along with the presence of fans who attended the get-together. With the report of aOne Tree Hillreboot, Murray said at the time that there should be a new generation that would continue its legacy, and he also believed that there are many timely issues that could be tackled in the show, just like what they did in the original series.

In August this year, Netflix confirmed thatOne Tree Hillis getting a sequel series, as reported byDeadline. Original starsSophia Bush,Hilarie Burton, and Danneel Ackles will serve as executive producers and will also reprise their roles. It remains to be seen whether or not the rest of the original cast will return.

As expected, Murray has no plans to appear in the reboot. The upcoming project will reportedly take place 20 years later when the characters are now parents to teenagers but still dealing with familiar themes such as love, loss, and insecurities.
The original creator of the series,Mark Schwahn, is reportedly not involved in the project following hiscontroversial issuein 2017, where he was accused of assault and harassment by some of the cast members.
