Rockstar’sGrand Theft Autouniverse has given rise to someinteresting and memorable characters over the years, but not all of them were created to be liked. Throughout the cast of eccentric drug dealers, corrupt officials, and nagging family members, some personalities stand out as particularly annoying for one reason or another.

Whether through their voice and volume or their mannerisms and behavior, some characters just rub us the wrong way — and not all of them get their just deserts.

Most Annoying Characters in GTA Series Ricardo Diaz

Every Grand Theft Auto Protagonist, Ranked

From Tommy Vercetti to Franklin Clifton, here are all the Grand Theft Auto protagonists, ranked according to their storyline and narrative depth.

From early antagonists in GTA 3 through tonewer additions in GTA Online, every installment in the series has given us its fair share of likable and annoying characters.

Most Annoying Characters in GTA Series Bernie Crane

The following characters are sure to get on your nerves, and may lead players to test out which NPCs are killable sooner than imagined. Either way, each one still contributes in their own way to the wacky world of Grand Theft Auto.

10Ricardo Diaz

The Self-Proclaimed Big Boss

Ricardo Diaz is a mob boss in GTA: Vice City who Tommy has to do several missions for. Safe to say he is not the most likable character in the game, andappears to look down on everyone around him. He is quick to anger on account of his cocaine use and makes Tommy do all of his dirty work for him.

Diaz certainly thinks of himself as the top dog in Vice City, and has several unpleasant habits, including itching his crotch with the barrel of his pistol and destroying objects in the room around him. Fortunately, Tommy gets his revenge before long and is able to inherit the huge luxury estate from him afterwards.

Grand Theft Auto Hardest Missions Ranked

One redeeming quality is the fact that he provides some fun missions, including speed boat chases and helicopter assassinations. Nonetheless, taking him out is one of the more satisfying moments in the game.

9Bernie Crane

Don’t Break A Nail

When Niko tracks down his former comrade-in-arms from Eastern Europe, he doesn’t quite imagine that he has changed his name, his sexuality, his lifestyle, and even his voice upon arriving in Liberty City. The reunion between Niko, Roman, and Florian (now going by the name of Bernie Crane) is one of the funniest scenes in the game, particularly due to Niko’s surprise at his old friend’s sudden transformation.

Bernie is arguably one of themost eccentric characters in the GTA franchise, and certainly contributes his fair share of funny dialogue. However, he is very self-indulgent and often asks Niko to resolve his personal issues for him.

Most Annoying Characters in GTA Series Catalina

10 Hardest GTA Missions, Ranked

From Wrong Side of the Tracks to Death Row, here are some of the most challenging missions of all time in GTA.

Ultimately, Bernie provides little valuable information when it comes to tracking down Darko, and instead Niko learns more from the mob bosses, Pegorino and Gravelli.

Most Annoying Characters in GTA Series Tracey De Santa

It’s not all bad with Bernie. He certainly provides a much-needed dose of comic relief in an otherwise dark and serious game, but sometimes he just needs to keep the volume down while doing so.

As Vicious As Her Cartel Origins Suggest

Catalina is the main antagonist of GTA 3 and also appears as a side character in GTA: San Andreas. We are introduced to her as a traitor who shot her own boyfriend in the head after a bank robbery and subsequently made deals with Colombian gangsters, so she is not exactly a pleasant person.

Chasing her around andtaking her down is the main objective of GTA 3, and the final mission in particular where you’re able to confront her can be especially infuriating.

In GTA San Andreas, she comes across as a moody, loudmouthed psycho with an uncontrollable violent streak - which aligns well with prior portrayal. Although she can be funny at times, and certainly represents a menacing villain, there really isn’t a lot to like about Catalina whatsoever.

7Tracey De Santa

A Little Gratitude Would Be Nice

Where do we begin with Tracey De Santa? Michael’s daughter in GTA 5 is a persistent irritation throughout the game, although perhaps through no fault of her own. Constantly moaning and asking her dad for money, Tracey is a byproduct of Los Santos culture —desiring fame and attention above all else, no matter what the cost to herself or those around her.

The most memorable quest involves Michael and Trevor interrupting her audition for “Fame or Shame” in which she grinds and twerks in front of a panel of judges, as well as her distraught onlooking father.

GTA V: Best Story Missions, Ranked

Grand Theft Auto games have a lot more than just stealing cars and doing some heists. Here are 10 of the most memorable missions in GTA V.

Michael and Trevor promptly take revenge by chasing and humiliating the show’s host, Lazlow, one of the iconic radio DJs in the series.

Tracey might not be quite so annoying if she was a little more grateful. Despite the ridiculous lengths her father goes to in order to provide her with the luxurious lifestyle she demands, she still berates and insults him at almost every chance.

6Ashley Butler

The Definition Of A Lost Cause

Ashley Butler is undoubtedly one of themost tragic characters in the GTA series. Appearing prominently in GTA 4’sThe Lost & DamnedDLC, she is the ex-girlfriend of protagonist Johnny Klebitz. She also appears in both the main game at Ray Boccino’s place and in GTA 5 during Trevor’s introduction.

At her best, she is a pitiable junkie with severe dependency issues. At her worst, she is a manipulative and dangerous traitor. Throughout The Lost & Damned, she asks Johnny for money to fuel her addictions and to be rescued from various situations she has gotten herself into, but she hardly expresses any genuine gratitude and belittles Johnny by comparing him to other men.

Her desperation leads her into debt with both the Italian and Russian mafias, eventually resulting in the kidnapping of Roman Bellic. On several occasions, her actions lead to innocent people being killed, including Johnny, who ultimately gets himself killed by Trevor while trying to protect her in GTA 5.

5Brucie Kibbutz

A Perfect Advert Against Steroid Use

GTA 4’s resident roid-head, Brucie Kibbutz, isdefinitely an entertaining character— in small doses. Unfortunately, Brucie doesn’t do small doses. From the moment he meets his new “best buddy” Niko, he unleashes a deluge of crude emails, phone calls, and text messages that bombard Niko on a regular basis.

On top of that, he has frequent bouts of anger and even gets Niko to kill people who, it later turns out, had done nothing wrong. Alongside the stoic immigrant, Brucie is made to look even more ridiculous with his infantile outbursts and temper tantrums.

GTA Online: 10 Most Expensive Clothing Items

Looking to spice up your GTA Online character? Here are some of the most extravagantly expensive outfits in the game.

It’s not all bad with Brucie, though. He pays well for his missions and gives Niko the chance to earn a lot of extra cash by “repossessing” expensive cars. I don’t completely hate Brucie’s guts, I just wish he would shut up most of the time.

4Sessanta & KDJ Moodyman

Just Get Out Of My Shop

Arguably the most despised duo in the entire franchise is GTA Online’s Sessanta and KDJ Moodyman. They are encountered as part of the Cayo Perico Heist and willprovide missions related to the Auto Shop.

Not only are they crass in their public displays of affection towards one another, they are both supremely arrogant and pretentious apparently unaware that they are nowhere near close to being the biggest players in town.

Considering, as the owner of the Auto Shop, you are technically their boss, the pair certainly have a habit of talking down to you. Fortunately, their quests will reward players with plenty of money for acquiring nice cars, though it is questionable whether it is even worth the headache of enduring their stuck-up attitude.

3Lance Vance

A Constant Whiner and Eventual Traitor

Out of Vice City’s colorful cast of characters, Lance Vance is certainly one of the more memorable ones. He’s reallymore of a tag-along than anything though, showing up at various moments to ensure Tommy that they both share the same goal. However, it seems that Tommy is doing at least 99.9% of the groundwork when it comes to attaining that goal.

GTA: Vice City Helped Me Understand The Nostalgia For The 80s

Vice City captured the spirit of an experimental era.

As Tommy progresses throughout the story and acquires his various assets, Lance will reap the rewards, all the while complaining about how he needs a “larger slice of the pie”. His habit of phoning up to whine about his ill-treatment is certainly annoying, especially considering how little help he actually offers in return.

To make matters even worse, he sells out Tommy to his greatest enemy, Sonny Forelli, towards the end of the game. Needless to say, it is one of the most satisfying moments in Vice City when you finally get to put a bullet in him and shut him up for good.

A Talentless Con Artist

OG Loc is the wannabe rapper,present-day Burger Shot janitor, who has known CJ and Grove Street Families since childhood. After being violated in prison by members of Los Vagos, he promptly enlists CJ to help carry out his revenge.

Later, he asks CJ to break into a successful rapper named Madd Dogg’s house in order to steal his rhyme book and plagiarize lyrics from it. The move appears to pay off, as by the end of the story his career is going well, and he can even be heard in an interview with Lazlow on the radio.

What makes Loc so annoying, in addition to his pettiness, is his constant barrage of awful rhymes. They sound great to him, but to everyone else’s ears they are just painful. CJ appears to agree and regularly makes sarcastic comments in response.

1Manny Escuela

He’s From The Streets, Man

It’s hard to say what irks me the most about Manny Escuela. The fact that he is egocentrism personified is actually not one of his worst traits. On top of his self-righteous attitude, he is alsoa massive hypocrite and a fraud who wants to deceive everyoneinto thinking he is a man of “the streets,” when in fact he never gets his hands dirty at all.

After asking Niko to “clean up” the area by taking down his rival drug dealers, Manny then promptly swoops in with a film crew to frame the success as his own.

He’s certainly a strange character and a man of contradictions, particularly considering he is embroiled with one of Liberty City’s top heroin dealers, Elizabeta Torres.

Fortunately, Manny gets his karma in the form of a coke-raged Elizabeta who shoots both him and his cameraman dead. Niko then drives the pair to have their organs harvested at an illegal garage clinic, so at least there’s not much chance of him making a return.

GTA 6 Should Build On The Storytelling Of GTA 4, Not GTA V

Niko Bellic’s story proves that GTA has more to it than pop references and cheap laughs.
