Destiny 2is full of interesting and complex characters that your Guardian comes in contact with.Bungiehas done a fantastic job developing their characters over the years across all the seasons and expansions they have released. They do a great job keeping things interesting in between major expansions.

Several amazing characters have also been lost over the years to help develop the overall story of the game universe, Cayde-6 and Asher Mir being the greatest among them. For continuity’s sake, dead characters will not be included in the list, as they’re unable to be interacted with in the game currently.

10Ikora Rey

Ikora Rey is the resident Warlock Vanguard and helps make major decisions along with Commander Zavala. She also is in charge of a small group of Warlocks called The Hidden, her spy network “hidden” throughout the solar system. Ikora was also trained by Osiris and is considered to be one of the most powerful Warlocks in the Destiny universe.

She is the most human of the Vanguard, showing more empathy and emotions than anyone else. This can sometimes severely impact her decision-making, however, making her and Zavala not see eye-to-eye on some topics.

Anastasia Bray makes this list because of how she has overcome the dark shadow of her grandfather,Clovis Bray. She is a humble character in both appearance and attitude. Ana has also received more interesting backstory content in the latest update,Season of the Seraph, but was originally introduced in the vaulted Warmind expansion from 2018.

She is also the sister of the Exo Stranger, Elsie Bray, and the best friend of the Warmind, Rasputin. She is also known for fighting at the battle of Twilight Gap 100 years before the game takes place. Ana is an ultimately unique character and an excellent contestant to replace Cayde-6 as the Hunter Vanguard.

8Eris Morn

Eris Morn has one of the most dire backstories behind her, as well as one of the most creepy looks in the game. She was left alone on the Moon after a mission-gone-wrong killed her team of Hunters. She lost her Ghost, her eyes, and her friends. During her escape from the moon, she stole the eyes of a Hive member and became the protege of Ikora Rey.

She has been the major focus of the Shadowkeep expansion as well as the recent Season of the Haunted. She is also one of the few Guardians to first use the Stasis subclass introduced in the Beyond Light expansion. Eris Morn ultimately tries her best to do right, even with the Hive Darkness inside of her and her quest for revenge.

7Commander Zavala

Commander Zavala’s character used to be “Stoic soldier leader man” but has recently evolved into something more than that. As of the Season of the Haunted, it has been revealed that he had a wife and son who were both killed during a raid by The Fallen while Zavala was away learning from Lord Saladin and the other Iron Lords. This caused him inner resentment towards himself that was relived and later removed at the end of the season.

It has also been suggested that he is in a new relationship with the Cabal Empress Caiatl, but that is just speculation. He is also voiced by the legendary Lance Reddick. Zavala has had to make the tough choices over the years and wants to do nothing more than protect the Tower and the rest of humanity against the Darkness.

Mara Sov is the Queen of The Reef and the first member of the Awoken race. She is the reason that all the Awoken refer to each other as “Cousins.” She is also sister to Uldren Sov, who is now the Guardian known as Crow. Her actions often help The Guardian and the Vanguard, but there is usually a reason that advances her goals as well.

Mara is cunning and has a plan for any instance or problem that occurs. It is no wonder she has been a counselor to the Vanguard. She has become an integral part of the Destiny universe, and most recent seasons have involved her character at least a little bit.

Crow is one of the most misunderstood characters in the Destiny universe at the moment. He gets a lot of hate towards him for being the resurrected Uldren Sov, the murderer of Cayde-6 during the Forsaken expansion campaign. After he asks Savathun to show him his dark past during the Witch Queen campaign, it is shown how much of Uldren is still with him.

He later resolves his past in the Season of the Haunted and becomes his own person and is forgiven by the Guardian. There is great hope for what Bungie will do with him in the future because he has a lot of potential.

Osiris is the master Warlock who was trained by Lord Felwinter and later trained the Warlock Vanguard, Ikora Rey. He is also in a relationship with the Exo Titan, Saint-14. Osiris was originally introduced in the vaulted Curse of Osiris expansion in 2018. He has had a lot of character development in the form of seasonal content. From the start of the Shadowkeep expansion, all the way to the beginning of the Witch Queen, he was in a cocoon and replaced with Savathun in disguise.

Since being awoken from his slumber after being released from Savathun, he has returned to his old post. Osiris is a wise yet brash leader who is willing to do what it takes to keep the ones he loves safe.

3The Drifter

The Drifter is a bit of an enigma. No one knows his real name or what class of Guardian he actually is. He is from a time before the Tower existed and when the Iron Lords and the Warlords were fighting each other. He is known to the Guardians of the Tower as the show runner of the Gambit arena and one of the original users of the Stasis Darkness subclass.

The Drifter’s deep lore is connected tothe exotic weaponsknown as Thorn, Witherhoard, and The Last Word. He is also known to be against most of the Vanguards decisions about dealing with the Darkness. He is an advocate for a balance of Light and Dark.

Mithrax is the Kell of House Light, a group of Eliksni who left the Darkness behind and have returned to the Light of the Traveler. They live in their own quarter just below where the Tower sits. He made his major story debut during the Season of the Splicer, where he helped stop the Endless Night created by a Vex simulation.

It has since been revealed that he has a daughter named Eido and is a former Eliksni pirate lord with a bloody past. He was also formerly friends with Eramis, The Shipstealer, Kell of House Salvation. Mithrax is a great character who is just trying to be the best father he can while trying to move forward from his dangerous past.

Saint-14 is more than just the vendor for the Trials of Osiris activity. He was once the legendary Scourge of the Eliksni and was thought to have died in the Vex-made Infinite Forrest. He is now great friends with Mithrax, who has forgiven him for his past wrongdoings.

Furthermore, he is the perfect example of someone being more than their past and the ability to be forgiven no matter what you have done. Saint is also one of the first LGBTQ characters in the Destiny universe, as he in a relationship with the Warlock Osiris. Every Titan and Guardian should aspire to be as noble as Saint-14.
